Crowhurst Lodges proudly sports our Green Badge, as a park planned and run with the environment in mind. It earns its credentials in the following key areas:
Energy Efficiency all lodges are fitted with low energy light bulbs, as are the external lamps around the park. All buildings have been well insulated and thermostats are fitted in all accommodation and the leisure club to help preserve energy.
Recycling glass recycling stations are located around the park. Cooking oil from the catering department is recycled as well as printer cartridges from the administration department. All wood waste is shredded and used as mulch in the grounds. Also tin, plastic, paper and cardboard are recycled.
Water Conservation all lodges are fitted with dual flush toilets and push button showers are also fitted in the leisure club.
Social Practices the park takes part in local charity events and supports a number of local groups and schools. Local companies are used for supplies and all staff are recruited from the local area.
Wildlife a David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation winner, large areas of the park have been left to create a natural habitat for wildlife, in particular foxes, rabbits, and squirrels. Two wildlife ponds have been created and are popular with swans and ducks. A woodland walk has been created with interpretative signs and a guidebook for guests enjoyment.
Building Practices all lodges have been built using timber from sustainable forests. Natural products, including non-toxic paint, have been used throughout the lodges wherever possible. The swimming pool has been fitted with solar heat retention glass.
