great boat with great facilities on board, the boat could have benefited from a better clean before it was handed over. The boat also needs fenders for the sides as when your moored it rubs up the side a little. Great handover by the company.
2 adult couples, no children, had a wonderful relaxing 5 day break on the Wenlock. The handover was thorough and fun due to Johnno's sense of humour and laid back style.
the boat was spotlessly clean and had every convenience we could have needed to live on board.
The only problem we encountered, and I admit, it was my fault for not researching thoroughly enough, was the sleeping arrangements. Due to my husband's sleeping problems, we required 2 single beds for ourselves, with the double bed being fine for the other couple. I had seen the plan of the boat, but didn't realise that the bunks were totally designed for young children, as they were tapered along their length, and half boxed in making climbing in extremely difficult for inflexible people of our mature age and larger stature.
We therefore ended up sleeping on the pull out seating in the living room area. This was better than a bunk, but the mattress had to be made up from 4 separate cushions, which was not the most comfy to lay on.
The area we cruised through was beautiful, from Braunston to Ansty, and the boating community, whether hiring or living on board, were warm and welcoming, interesting to talk to, and fast to offer advice and help when needed.
Overall we were smitten with the boating bug, and with a more careful choice next time, we will definitely do it again.
A great holiday on a superb stretch of canal, starting and finishing at a boatyard staffed by very helpful and knowledgeable individuals. The only real downside was that the boat (a 69ft narrowboat) was very stern-heavy which caused it to run aground where other boats were not doing so, and when the stern is on the canal floor then the helm is much less responsive.
