The historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral and river boat trips and the market town of Barnard Castle with its 12th century castle; and Medieval Raby Castle are all just a short drive away. The award winning Beamish Open Air Museum, is just 13 miles away and is well worth a visit. Newcastle and Gateshead offer an array of museums and art galleries along with excellent shopping and are only 18 miles away. The breathtaking scenery of the Northumberland National Park is within an half an hours’ drive as is Hadrians Wall. A little further a field are Alnwick Castle and Gardens while the castles and gloriously unspoilt coastline of Northumberland are around an hours’ drive. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

Unspoilt National Trust beaches are just 9 miles away and the dolphin and seal watching trips readily available along the coast are some of the most popular excursions in mid Wales, whilst, further inland, white water rafting, superb fishing, nostalgic journeys on the Teifi Valley narrow gauge steam railway and a host of other fantastic attractions are within a short drive of Wern Newydd Farm. A selection of shops can be found in Llandysul (2 miles) and a village shop/PO and an excellent pub serving good food lie conveniently at the end of the farm drive.

Cut off from the mainland twice a day by the incoming tide, the Holy Island of Lindsifarne allows visitors to experience complete tranquillity and timelessness, and these Grade II listed fishermen’s cottages are ideally placed to enjoy this unique location. Offering contemporary comfort yet retaining charm and original character, they sit within walking distance of the harbour and long sandy beaches. The island, a fine walking and bird watching destination, is dominated by 16th century Lindisfarne Castle (NT), standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop – the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning, are also close by. Across the causeway, Northumberland’s many delights such as Bamburgh Castle, Seahouses for boat trips to the Farne Islands’ bird and seal colonies, and Alnwick Castle and Gardens, 25 miles, are within easy reach.
