The historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral, which is regarded as the finest Norman building in Europe, is a mere 10 miles away. Durham is one the most beautiful cities in England, with spectacular architecture, tree-lined river bank walks and winding streets. Durham Cricket ground, which hosts many international matches is just 10 minutes away. The Durham Dales with wonderful scenery, great hill walking and cycling is only a 20 minute drive, while further afield you can discover Hadrian’s Wall, Alnwick Gardens and the castles and gloriously unspoilt coastline of Northumberland – all under an hours’ drive.
