This series of hills lies to the east of Snowdonia running alongside the Clwyd valley from Prestatyn to Llangollen and is very close to the English border. There are some great views to be had from the top of the range: on a clear day you can see far into Snowdonia one way and Cheshire the other. The area is famous for its profusion of well preserved iron age hill forts, among them Moel Arthur, with its associations with the legend of King Arthur. Walking, cycling and fishing are all popular activities here, and there are also two well-known country parks, at Loggerheads and Moel Famau, which boast a large number of facilities and make a great day out for the whole family.
