Anglesey is a large island off the north west coast of Wales, connected to the mainland by two bridges (one designed by Telford) over the Menai Strait. Around 95% of the coastline here has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and most of it remains unspoilt, with tall cliffs and quiet sandy beaches. For walkers there is the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, which circles the entire island. There are charming resorts like Benllech and Rhosneigr for beach lovers, while Beaumaris, the major town on the island, boasts some lovely Georgian and Victorian architecture as well as a magnificent castle. Families will also enjoy the Anglesey Sea Zoo, where you can see local species of sea life in their natural habitats.
