Good: quiet location, mostly comfortable, a little quirky, good for dogs because of adjacent park Poor: wifi didn't work, and because of poor mobile signal, no access to internet ; downstairs kitchen and bathroom cold (no radiator in kitchen) ; outside door from kitchen stuck fast (bottom section) ; the book about the locality was somewhat misleading, e.g. "nearest village is Billericay" - this is not the nearest village and is the other side of Basildon! - this was a little annoying as there was no internet. I enjoyed my stay, but it could have been better.

It is not definitely suitable for disabled people who have to use sticks. There are 6 steps to the toilet/kitchen level the step from the kitchen to the toilet is not marked and as the flooring is the same in both, is very hard to see. The same where the kitchen floor has been cut away for the back door. A simple caution of "beware step" would be an improvement. I had two falls with slight injuries inside the cottage, and I feel inclined to write to the health and safety executive who deals with the area. The tv was hard to use without instructions and the tv controller was hard to use. I phoned the owner 6 times over the 16/17 Sept but neither received an answer or a call-back to any of them. Apart from the above, a nice quiet week, but would not use this cottage again.

A very comfortable, clean and peaceful cottage in a countrified location yet only 5 minutes drive from the town centre. Owners very friendly and helpful.

The bedroom and lounge being one large room is lovely. The fault is downstairs with kitchen which is appalling to the degree that we only wanted to use it to make tea and coffee. Bathroom passable. Country setting great but the smells in accommodation dreadful .

Was staying there as part of a work relocation package and it offered everything and more I was looking for. Convenient location, nice and quiet, a pub in walking distance, and overall a very nice setting.

We were disappointed with this cottage it had a overwhelming racid smell the stairs were precarious to kitchen which was poorly finished and ill equipped less than basic There was an shower which didn't appear to be plumbed in and the furnishings were tired dining chairs were rickety On plus side the bed was very comfortable the linen and towels adequate and freshly laundered A good supply of hot water and heating kept barn warm The location was very good for dog walking straight out on common but in the cottage grounds there was a notice implying that you walked you dog at your own risk as there was dogs lose in the grounds
