• About Coed Y Fron

A glorious, panoramic, sweeping view across the vale of Ffestiniog towards the mountains of Snowdonia beyond greets visitors to this very comfortable, detached holiday cottage. It enjoys an idyllic, tranquil, rural setting approached by a quiet country lane, yet lies just 8 miles from the bustling and popular harbour town of Porthmadog with its fine selection of shops, restaurants and welcoming pubs. From the pretty harbourside, the world famous Ffestiniog narrow gauge steam railway takes visitors on a scenic journey to the home of Welsh slate, Blaenau Ffestiniog, for fascinating journeys underground exploring the slate caverns, where adrenaline junkies will love bouncing on the unique trampoline nets at Bounce Below, or soaring high overhead on the worlds largest zip wire zone. Locally, enjoy excellent walking, bird watching and mountain biking, with the Coed Y Brenin centre being a short drive, where bike hire and an adventure high ropes course are available. Historic castles, championship golf courses and pony trekking are available nearby. Nearest pub serving food 1 mile.

Very spacious cottage in a lovely location with stunning views. Ample storage space for walking gear in the utility room. Driveway can fit 6 cars. Lots of local walks and things to do. Pub is about a 15-20 minute stroll down the road. Only downside is there is no local shop within walking distance that we could find. Tesco can deliver to the address though!!

The cottage is situated at a great location, and is fairly well equipped. Nevertheless, almost all pots and pans are worn, and have scratch on the Teflon coating. We did however managed with the two pots that were without Teflon coating at all (bare stainless steel). No Wifi internet, and mobile data connection is poor. Beware and plan everything in advance. No tumble drier - we managed, but its not ideal to spend time on laundry in the vacation. The mattresses were awful, all 3 adults and 6 children(!) didn't sleep well. We are far from being a spoiled party, we usually don't pay attention to mattresses, and we all sleep well even when camping. For the price we've paid, we expected more. We recommend the owners to replace the mattresses and Teflon coated pots/pans.

Had an excellent stay at Coed Y Fron over a very wet weekend in March which didn't seem to dampen the fun. Booked for a party of 8 for my husbands birthday and EVERYONE enjoyed their stay and said they wouod book again. Beautiful setting, close to some amazing activities, but would need a car to really enjoy the area. Only reason for the 8/10 on equipment is due to lack of wifi. The house was otherwise very confiortable and had everything we needed.

Good location up a muddy track with good mountain views - made you feel you were in an isolated Welsh cottage which was good.We didn't try local amenities - the weather was awful but we still enjoyed going to Beddgelert and Portmeirion.Luckily we are not really into television while on holidays but found the Sky TV did not appear operable, that needs more instructions or a demonstration on arrival. It kept asking us to insert our SkyTV card which we hadn't got and even if we had where would we put it.
