Compton is a beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful area. It is exceptionally clean, warm, spacious and well equipped. Jill and Ron provide so many extra touches as well as a lovely hamper of local goodies and homemade cake, as well as a warm and friendly welcome on arrival.

The cottage was lovely but the bed was terribly hard! My wife and I had trouble sleeping, the mattress had no give what so ever.

A lovely secluded cottage with relaxing views of the countryside. This cottage is a rare find and would recommend it without reservation as this is our second visit.

Booked this cottage at short notice for the week and what a great place. We normally go for self catering accommodation for the freedom it gives. This cottage was the best equipped with the highest quality fixtures and fittings of any we have stayed in before. The location is idyllic, so quite and peaceful with wonderful views across the farm and surrounding countryside. With a warm and friendly welcome were made to feel very at home. There was a lovely welcome pack with a variety of local produce and home made cake to start the holiday off. Sherborne is just over a mile away which has all the local amenities if required which is perfect. Although never normally staying in the same place twice, we will make an exception here and definitely return again.

Lovely cottage with wonderful views. Jill and Ron are great hosts and provided a lovely welcome hamper with much appreciated tea and cake on arrival. Whilst there are no local amenities, the run into Sherborne is very easy and it offers a full selection of shops. We would not hesitate to return.

We had a wonderful holiday at Compton Cottage, and have been several times before. It is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage, and in such a lovely peaceful location. The owners are always warm and welcoming. We highly recommend it.

My wife and I stayed at Compton for a week in April and have nothing but positive comments to make. The location is peaceful and attractive, on a small farm with a few head of cattle and sheep. There are excellent walks in the vicinity, including from the accommodation itself. The owners were helpful but unobtrusive, and very welcoming on arrival, providing a welcome pack that would put most hotels to shame. The accommodation itself is modern, clean and tastefully decorated, with lovely views from the bedroom. Everything we needed was provided in a very well kitted out kitchen, and the double four-poster bed offered a very comfortable night's sleep. A car is essential, but for a nice evening out that can be accomplished on foot I strongly recommend the mile and a half walk into Trent to the Rose and Crown for an evening meal in an attractive village pub serving excellent food - not forgetting to take torches (supplied, as with fans, in the accommodation) for the walk back home! Not cheap, but this is good cooking. Worth knowing that in addition to a television and decent wifi connectivity, a DVD player is also provided. We found mobile phone connectivity good too.
