    The cottage was lovely but the bed was terribly hard! My wife and I had trouble sleeping, the mattress had no give what so ever.

    Lovely cottage with wonderful views. Jill and Ron are great hosts and provided a lovely welcome hamper with much appreciated tea and cake on arrival. Whilst there are no local amenities, the run into Sherborne is very easy and it offers a full selection of shops. We would not hesitate to return.

    We had a wonderful holiday at Compton Cottage, and have been several times before. It is a very comfortable and well equipped cottage, and in such a lovely peaceful location. The owners are always warm and welcoming. We highly recommend it.

    My wife and I stayed at Compton for a week in April and have nothing but positive comments to make. The location is peaceful and attractive, on a small farm with a few head of cattle and sheep. There are excellent walks in the vicinity, including from the accommodation itself. The owners were helpful but unobtrusive, and very welcoming on arrival, providing a welcome pack that would put most hotels to shame. The accommodation itself is modern, clean and tastefully decorated, with lovely views from the bedroom. Everything we needed was provided in a very well kitted out kitchen, and the double four-poster bed offered a very comfortable night's sleep. A car is essential, but for a nice evening out that can be accomplished on foot I strongly recommend the mile and a half walk into Trent to the Rose and Crown for an evening meal in an attractive village pub serving excellent food - not forgetting to take torches (supplied, as with fans, in the accommodation) for the walk back home! Not cheap, but this is good cooking. Worth knowing that in addition to a television and decent wifi connectivity, a DVD player is also provided. We found mobile phone connectivity good too.
