Just a few miles from the historic city of Edinburgh, East Lothian is a golfer’s paradise. There are no fewer than 19 golf courses within easy reach of our holiday cottages in Peeblesshire, not to mention 40 miles of glorious coastline, rolling countryside and dramatic cliffs. For birdwatchers there’s the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre at picturesque Bass Rock, where you can take a boat trip to see puffins, gannets and grey seals. While if you’re interested in manned flight, the National Museum of Flight has a variety of historic aircraft on display – you can even take a tour of Concorde here. Musselburgh is the main town and is most famous for its racecourse, which holds 26 meetings each year. Why not time your cottage holiday in East Lothian to take in a day at the races here? Or see how Scotch Whisky is made (and have a tasting session) at the Glenkinchie Distillery. There are some wonderful views on offer at historic Dirleton Castle, which also boasts some glorious grounds. And our East Lothian holiday cottages are perfect for paying a visit to the industrial heritage site of Prestongrange Museum, which over the years has been a glass works, pottery, coal mine and brick factory.
