Just a few miles from the historic city of Edinburgh, East Lothian is a golfer’s paradise. For birdwatchers there’s the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre at picturesque Bass Rock, where you can take a boat trip to see puffins, gannets and grey seals. While if you’re interested in manned flight, the National Museum of Flight has a variety of historic aircraft on display – you can even take a tour of Concorde here. Musselburgh is the main town and is most famous for its racecourse, which holds 26 meetings each year. Why not time your cottage holiday in East Lothian to take in a day at the races here?
