Just 4 miles away are the sands of Cayton Bay, Filey is 6 miles and Scarborough’s traditional seaside activities, sealife centre, flume pool, renowned theatre and harbour (pictured) are only 8 miles. The picturesque town of Whitby and old fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay lie 20 miles up the coast, whilst, inland, the great houses of Castle Howard, Sledmere and Burton Agnes, and Rievaulx Abbey, are within easy reach, as are Flamingo Land Theme Park, Eden Camp and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway with its scenic journey over the ’Heartbeat’ moorlands. York’s myriad attractions are 40 miles. Quad bike trekking, riding and golf can be found nearby, and fishing locally. Shop 1 mile, pub/restaurant 200 yards.

    10 of us stayed at End House over the October half term and can honestly say it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. Despite there being 2 families, we found the house and its facilities met out needs perfectly. The pool was a fabulous addition and having the bar straight off it was great as we could keep an eye on the kids whilst they were swimming. We would definitely return.

    Very well situated house, close to the coast. The house was spotless and well equipped and the pool was great to relax in after a long day of sightseeing. The only problem we encountered was with the weak wifi signal but to be honest it meant the family spent more time with each other, so in fact was a bonus! Would definitely return and recommend the house to others.

    My second time at End House. Can't recommend highly enough. Perfect for a bit of peace and quiet and long walks in beautiful countryside or have fun in the lovely pool with lots to do in the area. Also recommend a three minute walk to the local pub The Foxhound. Fantastic food and cocktails, great for families.

    The cleanliness of the cottage was excellent; all the rooms and living spaces and the linen/towels were clean and good quality. Well-located for local pubs and approx. 25 min from the beach and tesco was ok. Washing machine/tumble dryer was really helpful. The reason why the other scores weren't higher is because 1) the beds were hard and uncomfortable - unfortunately we have yet to stay in a cottage in yorkshire where the mattresses aren't of poor quality made worse by being placed on wooden slated bases. For those with back/hip problems, stay in a hotel. 2) there were 7 rooms with only 3 single beds. This is not really a house that sleeps 10 unless most are couples/small children. The actual number of beds needs to be made clear in the description of this property. One of the kids ended up sleeping on the couch. 3) There was so much chlorine in the pool it made the kids cough 4) The fridge was too small for 10 people - there was just one fridge/freezer and a bar fridge (that wasn't particularly great). 5) 2 bathrooms for 10 people? There was a 3rd bathroom in the pool area, but this house could have done with an additional, separate wc in addition to the 2 bathrooms in the house. 6) there were absolutely no hooks anywhere to hang up a towel in the bathrooms and nowhere to hang a bath towel in the bedrooms either. 7) Two of the downstairs bedroom faced the main road and the windows were sealed shut. Understandable from a security/noise point of view but very bad for ventilation and the occupants. Would be prone to mould I suspect. 8)The driveway was really awkward for more than one car and the black bars at the entrance for the electric gates should have reflective strips on them so that people can see it as they drive in/out especially in the dark. Black is really not sensible for something that is essentially a hazard for vehicles. I'm sorry there were not more positive points, because the owners have clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring that the facilities are well-maintained and clean and it's one of the best cottages we've stayed in with respect to kitchen equipment and cleaning products such as dishwasher tablets. I hope this feedback helps. Most of the above could be easily remedied and would mean better reviews for them in the future. All the best!

    Our family had such a fantastic break at End House. We were welcomed and given the tour on arrival. Every room was spotless, bathrooms and pool were very clean. Garden was well kept. The pool is an amazing feature. We hope to book again for next year.

    Comfortable and well equipped . Considerable Traffic noise as front of house on busy road . Access at rear through electric gates difficult , particularly if you have a largish car . Pool area very comfortable and kept at a good temperature. Owners very welcoming and helpful.

    Beautiful house and the pool is fantastic. Well equipped kitchen and wonderful bar in the reception room adjoining the pool. Could do with heating in the changing room but would be ok in summer. Bedrooms are a good size and comfortable. Garden is well tended and even enjoyed sitting out in March. Highly recommend.
