Fawn Lea Cottage is located in a quiet courtyard close to the village amenities of Staindrop and the village greens. Comfortably furnished and well equipped, the holiday cottage is perfect for families or friends who will enjoy the delights of this unspoilt area of Teesdale. Adjacent to the owner’s property, it is warm and cosy at any time of year and there is a flower-filled patio area for dining or relaxing on warm, summer days. This stunning area has a wealth of history; Raby Castle is within walking distance and Bowes Museum, with fine antiques and textiles, is a short drive away. Barnard Castle, famous for ‘The Banks’ antique shops, Georgian theatre, cosy tea rooms and boutique shops, is also within easy reach. Hadrian’s Wall provides Roman historical interest and walks or rambles can be taken on the beautiful Teesdale fells and meadows or in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Take time to visit High Force Waterfall (the highest in England) or take a drive to the fascinating open air museum at Beamish, where original trams run along the streets. There are beautiful gardens at Eggleston Hall to stroll around, many footpaths to explore from the doorstep as well as a convenient bus service from the village. Staindrop has a convenience store, post office, pubs serving meals, bistro and traditional tea room. A lovely tree-lined walk across the road from the cottage, with a river running alongside, provides an idyllic stroll after a full day out exploring the area.
