Lovely spacious accommodation, once you ignored the M50 noise. Enjoyed having the view of the lake every morning. Rob was very helpful on arrival. Would suggest replacing the bath with walk in shower.

A gem of a cottage. We spent a very enjoyable weekend at Hartleton Lake Retreat. The accommodation was very good, tastefully decorated, well equipped and the position overlooking the lake was wonderful. A huge grassed area to the front which was fully enclosed and greatly appreciated by our collie Meg. The location is ideal for a peaceful holiday yet only ten minutes from Ross on Wye and fifteen minutes to Symons Yat by car. Also there is a golf club, which has a limited menu but very welcoming to travellers on the doorstep and many good eateries close by especially the "Moody Cow" where booking is essential. Many thanks to Rob and his family for making our stay so enjoyable. We will be back.

The accommodation is modern and comfortable with good quality furniture and fittings. The setting is great with lovely views across the lakes. It was nice to be able to walk round the lakes watching the various wildfowl. A couple more pans or lidded casserole would be useful especially if there were 4 persons. Top bedrooms very small with no wardrobes. Rob was welcoming and on hand if required.

our 3rd visit - love it here. Cottage works really well, lovely views. Really enjoyed a meal at the Moody Cow again where food and service excellent. Lots to see & do in surrounding area.

Harleton lake Retreat converted barn is in a remote location with the M50 motorway above the main lake with minor traffic noise in the residence. Downstairs accommodation is open plan spacious and well presented with most of the requirements needed for self catering, perhaps a few kitchen wall cupboards and an updated cooker would benefit the facilities. There is a spacious and comfortable Double Bedroom at ground level off the main lounge with adequate hanging and storage space. There is an average size family bathroom situated on ground level, this being the only bathroom for residents to use but not suitable for six people to use. Stairs lead to 2 smallish bedrooms each with twin single beds more suited to children than adults in our opinion and not ideal for seperate couples. The couple sharing the accommodation with us found the room and beds uncomfortable and with no clothes hanging facility which was disappointing. The owner has stated that the accommodation is to be updated in the future to make it accommodate 4 persons as opposed to the present 6 making space for hanging clothes which if done will considerably improve the cottage for future hirers especially if an en suite bathroom is added. The owner Rob lives next to the building and is readily available for advice and solving any problems.Your privacy is respected making for a relaxing holiday. There is no wifi or phone signal in the building and outside is patchy. Subject to the above improvements we would visit again and in spite of the lack of facilities we enjoyed our stay. There is a Beefeater Pub serving food nearby and The local Pub and Restaurant called The Moody Cow serves expensive food with below average service. The owner and staff of the restaurant are an "aquired taste" keen to maximise your spending, we waited an hour for a main course and felt pressured to purchase more drinks and starters etc. In Ross on Wye there are many pubs and restaurants catering for all, it is a very nice Market Town to visit. The residence is well located for The Wye Valley andForest of Dean and further afield The Brecon Beacons,Gloucester and Cheltenham.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay, however gaps between the rooms caused transfer of noise around the cottage, the 2 upper bedrooms very small but I understand that these are now being converted to singles. Very pretty setting, shame about the noise from the very busy road.

The setting was lovely but remote. The kitchen was not well equipped for the number of beds.

Fantastic place to stay. The only downside was how close we were to the motorway, it was rather noiseyou and this wasn'the mentioned when booking.
