In the heart of one of the most beautiful valleys in Wales, these stone cottages stand alongside the ruins of 12th century Talley Abbey, and are set in 30 acres of unspoilt pastureland. This is a haven for wildlife – red kites, buzzards and other rare bird species are often seen, and an otters’ hide belonging to the RSPB is tucked away in the grounds. Two lakes, stocked with roach and pike, one of which can be fished by arrangement, add to the beauty of this lovely corner of Wales. Each cottage is beamed throughout and all retain a host of original features. Wood burning stoves, open fireplaces and some antique furnishings are complimented by modern day facilities, all combining perfectly to provide spacious, well equipped and comfortable accommodation. Abbey Cottages are ideally situated for exploring the many delights of the area – the Dolaucothi goldmines, Dan-Yr-Ogof caves, the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, and Gwili Steam Railway Park are all within easy reach. A local experienced cook can prepare meals for guests’ arrival, or cater for that special occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries or family gatherings. Llandeilo offers a choice of shops, restaurants and inns, 7 miles. Pub at Llansawel, 3 miles.
