Chester, a city with Roman walls, trendy riverside and exceptional shopping in the medieval arcades, boasts many museums, a famous zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium. Liverpool, also a half hour drive, or accessible by rail from the local station, offers the Albert Docks with Beatles Museum, the Mersey Ferry and docklands tours, Tate Gallery and The Beatles’ homes, now opened by the National Trust.
