The log cabin had everything we needed; it was very modern and clean. The full size fridge freezer was fab, something we have never had in any other log cabin we have stayed in before (usually a fridge with a small freezer compartment at the top). The complimentary fruit and free range eggs was a nice touch. On our arrival it was mentioned that the mattresses would be getting replaced (no specific time frame given). I think these need to be replaced sooner rather than later. Boy were they uncomfortable; looking through the comments previous guests had left over the past few years, comments were made then about them. The lake itself was small but we had a lot of fun catching the carp; biggest carp we caught that week was a 12lb 4oz common. There was A LOT of very small silver fish in the lake - perhaps too many... having only fished once before, using sweetcorn as my bait, no sooner had I cast out I had a little silver fish on the end of my line... even I got fed up with this, giving up to try catch some carp (which I did, my biggest one was 10lb 11oz mirror carp.) There was a fabulous pub just outside the gates to the fishing lake; we ate here three times during the week. Monday and Thursday are 'specials' nights. The food is really good.

The lodge was fantastic. The beds were very uncomfortable but this was told to the owner who stated they would renew next year. Very relaxing week and the fishing was great. Some big fish in there 😀

We found the lodge to be very dark inside and also quite cold as we had no obvious heat source that we had any control over(it was controlled inside a locked cupboard) .It was totally impracticable to have a bedroom upstairs with no toilet facility up there ,and also we felt that the only toilet in the lodge should have been separate to the shower ...especially if there had been full occupation in there.HOWEVER,ON A PLUS SIDE, THE FISHING ON SITE WAS EXCELLENT ,and the owners were friendly and welcoming

The lodge was clean, well equipped and well located. Just about everything was great apart from the mattresses which we all found uncomfortable. I'm sure some people will find them okay but all four of us found them too uncomfortable. Shame really considering that everthing else was really good. That said, I would return. P.S. Fishing was great.

The lodge is absolutely stunning, and the fishing was good enough sport that my husband was able to catch during the day and not feel obliged to leave his rods in overnight, which meant he actually got some properly relaxing sleep. The lodge was clean, beautifully laid out, and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. It was a lovely week and would highly recommend.
