Very cosy, warm and well equipped. Wendy was very welcoming. Thornhill is a small hamlet (without shop or pub) but the location is great - being away from the busier areas - with access to great walking just behind the cottage.

Our parents lived in nearby Froggatt for 25 years and the Hope Valley has a number of fabulous locations and wonderful scenery. Ladycroft Barn combines so many of these splendid qualities. Unknowingly, I have walked past it on many occasions as I have made my way up the amazing Win Hill. The cottage is tucked away in a small village but is very well situated to walk towards Hope and Castleton, cycle towards the reservoirs with their superb views and extremely pleasant car-free trails; and not a great distance to the remarkable Edges. Inside it is very comfortable. The bedrooms are a good size and certainly bigger than many traditional workmen's homes. The views down to Bamford and the reservoirs are spectacular and there are a number of excellent hostelries within the distance of a good walk.

We arrived on Monday afternoon and the owner Wendy was at her nearby home to meet us. She showed us all round the cottage and was very friendly without being too pushy. We saw very little of her all week, which is how we wanted it, but knew she was either nearby or at the end of a phone if needed. The cottage itself is up a farm style road, and has views to die for! Warm, clean, with good quality bedding and cosy are the main words that spring to mind when describing Ladycroft Barn. We visited with two friends, and all felt that our stay was most enjoyable and relaxing. There are the odd comment regarding door handles that have been made before, but overall we could not fault our stay.

Very warm, clean and cosy barn, full of character with beautiful views and walks straight from the door. It is peaceful but not too remote and the owner is friendly and helpful. Milk and teabags were left for our arrival - perfect!

We had a lovely week away at Ladycroft Barn last month. The cottage is comfortable and cosy and is in a fantastic location for walking and visiting Peak District attractions like Chatsworth Estate, Bakewell and Blue John Cavern. There were some issues with a few bits in the house that could use a little TLC, for example, the bathroom door handle in the twin room is quite loose, the hand towel rail by the sink was coming away from the wall and there was some black mould around the window in the twin room that needed cleaning off. However, these were mostly very minor things and the cottage as a whole is very good value for money. We would visit again and recommend it to others.
