Lanterns is a very cosy, comfortable cottage for 2. It has been fitted out to a high standard and has everything you could need. The "village" of Udimore doesn't have any facilities, except for a couple of pubs. Unfortunately the lack of a roadside footpath means it is not very pleasant to walk to either of these. The (small) towns of Rye and Winchelsea are just a couple of miles away, and are worth visiting. Rye has shops where you can buy everything you are likely to need.

Loved our Autumn break and could easily have stayed longer. Wonderful location to visit so much of the area. Enjoyed Supper at the local pub. A visit to Winchelsea a must. Camber Beach for Dog walking but glad I wasn't visiting during the Summer months! Sissinghurst, Batemensand Gt, Dixter close by.

Loved the cottage but had problems with the settees, both very uncomfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were both spot on,we found everything we needed and more besides, feel quite sad that the settees let such a beautiful place down, could be a five star if these were replaced, just saying 🙂

The Lanterns is a beautiful little cottage equipped with every thing you could possibly want. We wouldn't stay again just because of the location, no where to walk our dog safely. The speed the cars come up the road and no pavements. They do have a nice enclosed garden but our dog won't do his business in the garden! So we went into Rye which is beautiful and plenty of walks there but 3 miles away. The owners are very nice and lots of advice for places to visit.

This is a cute little cottage jam packed with absolutely everything you would ever need. All the little things have been thought about from a fully fitted kitchen with all the utensils and appliances you'll need through to a massive stack of board games & a jam packed noticeboard with useful information about your stay.

Lovely well equipped cottage Stay spoilt by ridiculous number of notes on what one could or could not do.

Lovely cottage, very well equipped with everything needed. Need to mention that if you have dogs there is no where you can walk to, you will need to drive to the local woods. Labels scattered all around the property are not needed, we counted 41 in total. Sofas very uncomfortable, need replacing. Feel that the owners are very protective over the property and this can make you feel a little unwelcome. Overall a lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage and area.

The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed. Found the settees uncomfortable to sit on, very hard. Bit overwhelmed by all the instructions and notes around the cottage. If I was visiting the area again I might have hired the cottage again, but I do not intend to be visiting that area of England again.

Lanterns is very well equipped, in fact we couldn't think of a thing that wasn't provided. ...even a "hi-vis"tabard for walking on the main road. There are, however, many, many notices advising what to do and what not to do...even down to making sure you pull the curtains with the cord as touching them makes them dirty! The owners comment that the notices are needed but also say that people do not read them.....I think people prob ably suffer label fatigue....we certainly did!

Lovely cosy cottage but too many notes left around telling you what to do and not do which make it feel cluttered. Sofas uncomfortable to sit on and need replacing.

Lovely cottage, well equiped. And very nice owners.

This cottage did not have comfortable seating - 2 sofas need replacing. The location of the cottage is in close proximity to a busy 'B' road so was a worry with a small dog. Walks from the cottage were only possible by first undertaking a dangerous walk alongside the road - no paths. In its favour the cottage was very well fitted out.
