We had a very peaceful and relaxed weekend at the cottage with our dog Frankie. The cottage is very pretty, and well supplied with home comforts. It is a good base to visit Rye, Winchelsea and Camber Sands. Rye was a suprising treasure and very dog friendly. The real down side was that I could not walk from the cottage with the dog, other than a small lane leading to three other properties. The B road next to the cottage was not safe to walk along, as there is no path and traffic is travelling at speed. This meant we had to take the car when ever we wanted to get out and explore the surrounding country side.

Beautiful little cottage and has everything you need but they really need to replace the bottom right lock on the French doors as I was unable to open them to let my dog in the garden, to close to the B road and no pavement to walk along it also the cottage is full of notes telling you what you can and can’t do and a £4 charge per night for electricity and heating why not incorporate this in the rental price.

We loved the cute quirky cottage and we recommend it to others. It was well equipped and there was nothing further we needed to have a wonderful week away that wasn’t provided. We felt the main road was too dangerous with cars speeding along for us to walk directly anywhere from the cottage which was a shame. We loved the town of Rye - cute and very friendly. We enjoyed days out to Hastings, Battle and walks at Camber Sands. We loved all the notes left and took no issue with them at all. More than understand the owners being protective and caring about their property

Comfort/Equipment - rather cold and I feel the cost of heating should be included in the overall price. Very well-equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom. Location - easier to find than expected. Cleanliness - general ceilings and corners were dusty and with cobwebs and leaving a note on the duster to say we can use is quite cheeky to be honest. However, generally clean overall. Local amenities - not that extravagant in Rye as stated on notes in the cottage. Value for money - happy for the overall fee but again, cheeky to ask for additional £ for the heating. One thing that was not mentioned BEFORE the booking was the property viewing on the Sunday... owners should have let us know as soon as we arrived or when we phoned one week prior to our visit. We were then cleaning up and staying in when we could have been enjoying ourselves, albeit for a very small period of time. It was just a general inconvenience and a viewing would not have been arranged so suddenly and must've been in advance.

Lanterns is a very cosy, comfortable cottage for 2. It has been fitted out to a high standard and has everything you could need. The "village" of Udimore doesn't have any facilities, except for a couple of pubs. Unfortunately the lack of a roadside footpath means it is not very pleasant to walk to either of these. The (small) towns of Rye and Winchelsea are just a couple of miles away, and are worth visiting. Rye has shops where you can buy everything you are likely to need.

Loved our Autumn break and could easily have stayed longer. Wonderful location to visit so much of the area. Enjoyed Supper at the local pub. A visit to Winchelsea a must. Camber Beach for Dog walking but glad I wasn't visiting during the Summer months! Sissinghurst, Batemensand Gt, Dixter close by.

Loved the cottage but had problems with the settees, both very uncomfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were both spot on,we found everything we needed and more besides, feel quite sad that the settees let such a beautiful place down, could be a five star if these were replaced, just saying 🙂

The Lanterns is a beautiful little cottage equipped with every thing you could possibly want. We wouldn't stay again just because of the location, no where to walk our dog safely. The speed the cars come up the road and no pavements. They do have a nice enclosed garden but our dog won't do his business in the garden! So we went into Rye which is beautiful and plenty of walks there but 3 miles away. The owners are very nice and lots of advice for places to visit.

This is a cute little cottage jam packed with absolutely everything you would ever need. All the little things have been thought about from a fully fitted kitchen with all the utensils and appliances you'll need through to a massive stack of board games & a jam packed noticeboard with useful information about your stay.

Lovely well equipped cottage Stay spoilt by ridiculous number of notes on what one could or could not do.

Lovely cottage, very well equipped with everything needed. Need to mention that if you have dogs there is no where you can walk to, you will need to drive to the local woods. Labels scattered all around the property are not needed, we counted 41 in total. Sofas very uncomfortable, need replacing. Feel that the owners are very protective over the property and this can make you feel a little unwelcome. Overall a lovely relaxing stay in a beautiful cottage and area.

The cottage is well equipped with everything we needed. Found the settees uncomfortable to sit on, very hard. Bit overwhelmed by all the instructions and notes around the cottage. If I was visiting the area again I might have hired the cottage again, but I do not intend to be visiting that area of England again.
