A good quiet location with easy access to the town. Tea,coffee and a bottle of wine on our arrival were much appreciated after our journey. Lumsdale falls were a highlight, which were almost on our doorstep

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this really interesting old house which had been cleverly adapted for holidaymakers. It was extremely warm and we tested this out during a cold, foggy spell so can guarantee that it is always cosy. It didn't take long to walk into Matlock and the views from the upstairs double bedroom were beautiful (when the fog lifted). The church stands out with its floodlighting at night and being on a hill, Linden Cottage overlooks the town spread out below. Chloe, the owner, is delightful and we loved hearing the story of how she grew up in the house and later almost lost it. Thankfully she didn't and she continues to make improvements that are in keeping with its long history. The cooking facilities were good, the television was excellent, we had no trouble with the WiFi and the bed was really comfortable. Unusually for a holiday cottage, there was more than adequate storage with a huge wardrobe, large chests of drawers and a nice dressing table complete with a light and a hairdryer point underneath. We certainly enjoyed our stay and found the cottage to be very relaxing.

We had a fabulous week at Linden Cottage. It was clean, warm and felt like home. The views from the cottage were stunning. It was lovely to be able to take our two dogs and it has a great walking field adjacent to the property for those essential walks first thing in the morning and last thing at night. The welcoming refreshments and wine were very well received. The cottage was full of guides on the surrounding area, walks and places to eat. It was a great base from which to explore the Peak District and we would deffinately rent this cottage again.

Our second stay at the cottage this year, and it was just as good as the first time. A bottle of wine and jug of milk were waiting for us on our arrival, and it did feel a bit like coming home when we walked in! The cottage was in its usual excellent condition - clean and tidy, and Chloe came and welcomed us when she saw we had arrived. We had been somewhere else prior to our stay here, so were glad to be able to do some washing on our arrival. We were able to do more this time (last time it snowed!), and it is a great base to explore the area from. There is loads of information about walking in the area, which we made good use of. The bath was most welcome after a days walking, but the shower is also good. We found some nice places to eat a short drive away, and also made use of the equipment in the kitchen for a few meals. We do love this cottage, and can recommend it. If we come back to Debyshire again we would definitely consider staying here again.
