The location of the Cottage is lovely, beautiful views. The nearest pub is Cross Keys and food was fantastic. The Cottage has a private hot tub, however on arrival we were not able to use it as it had just had chemicals added. The following day we discovered it was not working and nothing was done about this and we could not use it, this is therefore reflected in our review scores, such a shame, a gazebo or shelter over the tub would be a bonus. The mattresses desperately need replacing and the bed in the twin room is extremely squeaky and makes a noise on the slightest movement. The log burner is a great advantage, it would be an added bonus if wood/coal was available to buy at the property. A welcome bottle of wine or greeting from the owners on arrival would of been nice as they live on site, we were not met or spoke to by anyone in our entire stay. Oswestry is a short drive away if supermarkets or shopping is your preference. Some lovely daytime walks around, however an evening stroll to the local pub is not possible as there is no pavements and no street lighting. The Cottage has all you need for a relaxing break and we would return in the hope that the owners take note of the reviews and guest’s comments. With little cost this Cottage and it’s location could be receiving 5* reviews. A lovely stay just very disappointing about the hot tub and the lack of communication from the owners.

A well presented cottage, with nice decor and style, but not very welcoming and lacking some basic practical items; no coat hooks; no towel rails in the bathroom, nor any usable shelf (a mysteriously un-openable cupboard); no soap or detergent, tea or coffee on arrival (as most other cottages we have visited provide), let alone any 'welcome pack'. A connecting door with the mirror cottage reduces sound insulation, an annoyance when neighbours are loud talkers!! An outside light near the parking space would be helpful.

Despite the changeable weather we had a very pleasant holiday with plenty to do and see in the area. Attingham Park at Shrewsbury and Crick Castle were really worth a visit (both are National Trust properties). The local village pub served lovely food and good beer. The cottage was very nice but getting ready for some decorating. It was generally well equipped but there was a lack of decent wine glasses - a small point perhaps but wine needs to be enjoyed from a decent glass! Overall the holiday was good as was the Rose Cottage.

Nice little cottage in a good location. Only had the hot tub for half the week which was disappointing. Could do with some more equipment in the cottage e.g. Dish washer, washing machine, brush for the floor.

Dog poo out front, dog allowed to roam round and come into the house while our child was on the floor. Hot tub lights didn't work. Oven dirty. Utensils and plates dirty. Full bin on arrival.

We recently stayed here for a week as 2 couples. The owners live on site and are very welcoming, offering advice on what to do in the area. Supermarkets are about a 10 minute drive away into Oswestry. We thought the pub was closer to the property than it turned out to be, it was about a 30 minute walk something we didn't fancy doing in pitch black. There isn't really anything to do around the cottage unless you drive which is something to bare in mind. Hot tub was really nice and great to use on days where you aren't going out to do things. Would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a cosy break out in the countryside.

Disappointed log burner wasn't "ready to go" as suggested by cottage description. Perhaps covered hot tub would be better (as per the other cottage on site)

The stay was lovely very comfortable and the log burner and hot tub was just what we wanted. David was very friendly and welcoming. I would also suggest that you try a meal at the cross keys pub as our meal was delicious and the surrounding lovely. One little suggestion would be to supply some wood for the burner and maybe a little welcome pack as other cottages we have stayed have done this and it was a lovely little touch. Would stay again and already recommended to friends

4 of us stayed here for a weekend however when we arrived we were told that the hot tub had just been cleaned and would not be available till the following day, also there was dog mess on the small piece of grass near the hot tub. the cottage location was lovely, very peaceful and quiet. We also had a power cut which lasted around 20 mins. we noticed that the double bed sagged in the middle and one of the singles creaked every time our friend moved. The cottage however is really lovely but could just do with a few things tweeking, we would stay again as it was a nice little break away. The owner popped in just to say hello he seemed quite a nice bloke.
