• About Rose

Enjoying a pretty coastal village setting and just 500 yards from the sweeping sands of one of England’s finest beaches, Town Farm Cottages were created from a 17th century stable and coach house. An ideal holiday base, these attractive, cosy and comfortable properties, five of which we offer here, sit on a courtyard in the heart of Beadnell village, a popular venue for water sports enthusiasts and boasting a picturesque harbour as well as a shop and two pubs serving food – all within a few yards’ stroll. Two miles to the north, Seahouses offers a variety of shops and tea rooms, a leisure centre and superb golf course, and boats depart regularly from its working harbour for fishing trips or to visit the Farne Islands’ famous seal colonies and bird sanctuaries. A further 3 miles up the spectacular coastline, a deservedly recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lies Bamburgh – dominated by its splendid castle – whilst the causeway leading to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a little further. An easy 12 mile drive south reaches the market town of Alnwick with its castle, renowned as the film location for Hogwarts School and beside it, Alnwick Gardens, an exciting contemporary space featuring gloriously vivid planting, stunning water displays and one of the largest tree houses in the world. A wide variety of day trips from exploring the historic towns of the Scottish borders to shopping at Newcastle’s Metro Centre are also easily accessible.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Great kids playground across the road. Didn’t like the fact that you had no control when the heating was on, although most of the time when it was on we had to turn the radiators down. WiFi passcode was not provided at the property and took 3 texts to get it. Other than that a great place to stay and we will be back to the area.

The cottage is fine if a little basic and old fashioned in places and with no hoover impossible to keep the sand at bay! The sofa was very uncomfortable but everything else was comfy and warm.

Our stay was good the local pub was just across the road and the food was great. The cottage itself was clean and well equipped. A couple of things we weren’t happy with, the dog friendly was only applied to the downstairs part of the cottage, no dogs allowed upstairs. That is fine but should be pointed out in the description as we would never have booked knowing that. Our dog gets very upset if she is not with us in a strange place and one of us had to sleep downstairs with her. Also the code was not left for the WiFi and although we phoned the contact numbers several times it was 4 days before someone phoned us back. I know it was only the WiFi code we wanted but should it have been a real emergency it was not acceptable.

Lovely holiday cottage in beautiful Northumberland. Clean and comfy with all we needed. Having WiFi and better phone reception would make it even better, but poor phone reception is not the fault of the cottage. A dishwasher would be an added bonus, but we did bring along our own personal dish washer...he didn't complain too much !! We would certainly recommend Rose cottage to our friends and family it was great value for money and would gladly return. You can't keep us away from Northumberland 😊

Rose Cottage provided a good base for exploring the Northumbrian coast and countryside. However, as other reviews have mentioned, the settee units in the lounge need replacing. For older visitors, or anyone with mobility problems, tired foam filled units do not make for comfortable sitting.

Had a great time at Rose Cottage. The property was very comfortable and clean. The beds were comfy and towels and bedding were provided. The property is spacious and the only downside was there wasn't a washing machine. Having said that who really wants to be doing there washing whilst on holiday. There are two perfectly nice pubs around the corner The Craster Arms being one of them. They both do good food but we preferred the one I've mentioned. There is one village shop which is nearby that sells most things. Around the corner from Rose Cottage is a lovely children's playground. The main stretch of beach is a few minutes drive and has a free car park. The beach here is absolutely beautiful. We went out every day and took our dogs with us. We only left them in the cottage when we had a meal in the pub but you can take the dogs in with you if you wish. All in all had a really good time and wwe would definitely stay there again.
