The West Coast is a stunning series of sea lochs and inlets as well as some great beaches, particularly around Gairloch, This coastline is also famous for its exotic gardens, warmed by the currents of the Gulf Stream. Perhaps the most impressive are the ones at Inverewe, definitely worth a trip during your stay in one of our holiday cottages in Ross-shire and Cromarty. Wester Ross, and Glen Torridon in particular, is largely wilderness, home to red deer and wild cats. Perfect if you enjoy the great outdoors. There are some interesting towns here too. The Georgian town of Cromarty is remarkably well preserved, while Strathpeffer still has the grand hotels and elegant layout that date from its heyday as a Victorian spa town. Unspoilt Tain is also well worth a visit, as is the nearby Glenmorangie whisky distillery, if you feel like a “wee dram”.
