Not as clean as it should have been. DVD player didn't work, heating wouldn't turn off, hot tub didn't have all working functions. Outside lights not working,

A retreat indeed, it was a very peaceful time x

Access to the property was unexpected as we were not informed it was via an unadopted road. Road was badly worn and deeply potholed. Car parking was inconvenient and not consistently available within 50yards from the property. Definitely not off road as described. Central Heating controls were inaccessible behind padlocked door. Door locks need maintenance.
Location for visiting surrounding area very good and range of eating establishments excellent

Sophie's retreat is a lovely little cottage with the added benefit of a spa. From the main bedroom you can also step out onto a large balcony, a lovely place to sit in fine weather. There is a nice private courtyard which would be a lovely dining outside area in good weather. The cottage is extremely well equipped. The owners are very helpful and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. I would recommend it to any couple.
The only down side is that it is on an unadopted road. The road is really rough in some places and there is only just enough room for 2 vehicles to pass, therefore you cannot park outside the property and there isn't any parking on the property. It means you have to try and find somewhere along the unadopted road to park, where you do not encroach on neighbours - not easy. As we had a lame dog with us, this made it extra difficult.
Having said that, if you have a healthy dog, and don't mind a fair walk from your parked car, then it is a really lovely place to stay, and there is a lovely park just a very short distance away to walk a dog or just take a walk.

What a fabulous place, so comfortable, warm and cozy. You feel like you are in the middle of the country yet you are so close to everything. I would have rated comfort and equipment a 10 except the hot tub was not working. It was Christmas but the owner was great and so helpful, she tried her best but just bad timing. Loved the place as did my spanish step children!!

Lovely little cottage in great location, 10 minute walk from shops and good restaurants, close to Liverpool and the coast. Hot tub is inside but with large french windows so is best of all worlds, secluded and warm but with an out door feel if needed.

This romantically styled and beautifully furnished cottage offers a splendid base for exploring the local countryside and beaches of the Wirral at any time of year. Set on a very quiet lane, it is just 0.25 miles from shops in quaint Oxton village, which numbers a Michelin starred restaurant among its pubs and eating places, whilst 4 miles away, the Mersey Ferry takes visitors into the heart of vibrant Liverpool’s Albert Dock, setting for the Beatles Story, Tate Gallery and Maritime Museum. Locally, Port Sunlight model village is fascinating, and the beautiful Cheshire landscape is dotted with great houses and gardens. Snowdonia and Chester’s garden zoo make good day trips. Sea fishing 7 miles. Pub 100 yards.
