• About Spring Cottage

This very attractive and comfortable barn offers panoramic views in the beautiful rural setting of the owners country house. It sits a mile above the banks of the River Wye at Brockweir, with its excellent local shop and pub, is a few minutes drive from Tintern Abbey and offers wonderful walking as it is right on the Offas Dyke Path. This border territory is marked by stunning scenery and has brooding castles at Chepstow and Raglan, and market towns of Abergavenny and Monmouth to explore with more excellent walking in the Forest of Dean and along the riverbank. Fishing, riding, cycling and canoeing readily available. The area is wonderful for sightseeing and touring and easily reached year round. Chepstows Racecourse and excellent golf courses are nearby.

We loved this well-equipped and pretty farm cottage for its location and friendly and helpful hosts and we thank Peter and Sue for their hospitality. We were mesmerized by the beautiful view we could see from the lounge window, down the Wye Valley all the way to the Severn Crossing and so pleased that the location gave us access to places like Tintern with is abbey ruins, Monmouth, Chepstow, Raglan and Abergavenny for their castles and Hereford for its cathedral. The cottage is well-equipped and cosy with all you need for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed local walks along the Wye and up into the surrounding hills on the Offa's Dyke Path. This was our first visit to the area and we were not disappointed, not least by Spring Farm Cottage itself and would thoroughly recommend it for a quiet location for a holiday.

Absolutely stunning location and very welcoming hosts. We were blessed with glorious sunny weather which was icing on the cake. As a previous reviewer commented, the road up to the cottage is very narrow and steep in places, but doesn't need a 4 x4 to access it (unless it's snowing!) and after the first time and you know where you're going it's really not an issue. The cottage is well equipped and although we did eat out at The Anchor Inn at Tintern two nights we would have been just as happy to retreat to this glorious spot every night and just chill. Great walking from the door of the cottage or without having to drive too far. Some interesting National Trust properties not too far away and although the cottage is very rural there is a good road network with easy access in all directions. We had our dog with us and our hosts and their dog were very dog friendly as was everywhere we visited. A really relaxing week's holiday. Loved it!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Spring Cottage. The lane leading to the cottage is very narrow, and is best suited to either a small vehicle or 4x4 type vehicle. It was quite cold, but there were blankets available, and a fan which we found on our last day. The kitchen was well equipped, even had egg cups, although a couple of tumblers would have been useful.

Did not regret renting the cottage, the only downside was the narrow lanes leading up to the cottage.

A delightful cottage in an idyllic situation and with some of the best hosts whom we have met in our many years of cottage holidays. This is one of the very best if you are looking for a quiet holiday away from it all - with your dog, too, of course.
