Had a fantastic time with my four children and dog at the Smithy! They loved the log fire. The kitchen had everything we needed and a big table for some lovely family meals. Lots to do in the are with some beautiful hiking spots. Found some local pubs which were welcoming to children. We also visited Alton Towers which was 30 mins away. Had a really lovely week and would visit again ......The Smithy had a really warm home from home feel. (Hint for other visitors, come prepared as there are no corner shops for immediate supplies )

We have just returned from a week stay in Brassington. A lovely village with two great friendly pubs that serve food and in the Miners Arms you are able to buy bread, milk etc. The cottage is in a good location for seeing all that the Peak District has to offer. The cottage itself was cosy and had everything we needed (except a washing machine!) for our stay. Sadly we had to be very careful when taking a shower/bath as a previous leak down to the living room meant we had to have a bucket catching the drips from the ceiling! The bathroom could definitely do with a revamp. On arrival there was a lovely bottle of red wine and the cottage seemed clean but could do with a good dust and some TLC. The bedrooms were all of a good size and it was lovely sitting together around the big kitchen table. The garden was enclosed and secure, perfect for our dog!

Very comfortable cottage and nice outdoor seating area. Could do with a bit more kitchen equipment.

A lovely place to stay in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak district. Cottage had everything you could want. Owner very helpful and obliging. We stayed two weeks in the middle of a big relocation. Could not have asked for anything more relaxing.

A fantastic cottage in an ideal location for walking, trail riding and generally 'getting away from it all'. The village is picturesque and the host is very helpful. The only thing that the cosy cottage would benefit from is a washing machine to assist with dealing with the British weather! Would definitely stay again!
