Nice location and comfortable, if not a little tired, property. Good size and features for our party of 8 and Daphne, the host, was very welcoming and friendly and did everything possible to make out visit enjoyable and relaxing. Good location, slightly out of Ashburton with excellent views and a lovely veranda and gardens for the children and dog to play in. The house would benefit from a little updating but all in all a clean and comfortable stay.

A truly fantastic location with views that you just don't get tired of looking at. An abundance of wildlife at the door step combined with peace and tranquility. The house is large well equipped and very welcoming offering a real feeling of how life used to be. Ashburton the nearest village was lovely and we enjoyed visiting the shops, cafe's and bars. ideally located for visiting the sites of South Devon. I can honestly say that we will visit again, next time out of a holiday week (we visited witsun) to avoid some of the holiday traffic and queues. If you like peace, quiet and watching the wildlife go by you will love it here.

We had a lovely holiday at Torns Park; exploring Dartmoor, visiting Buckfast, Kents Cavern and fossil hunting at Daddy Cove. The marble museum was a really pleasant treat as we got to see glassblowing and the fantastic marble runs. The house itself was spacious and comfortable and worked well for our group of eight. What was less good was the heating. We were the first people in for the season and the house was bitterly cold on arrival, during a string of freezing days and snow. It took 3 days with the heating running full time to get the house up to a comfortable temperature. Once it was warmed up it was really pleasant. The heating is electric and runs from a coin meter, so heating the house up from cold was particularly expensive. The rental price for the property itself was fine, but the added cost of the electricity was hefty - about £50 for the week. Generally the decor is getting a little shabby and could probably do with a fresh coat of paint in most rooms, but the feel was "comfortably used" rather than "neglected". The kitchen was serviceable, but some items were missing (reported to the owner), like sharp kitchen knifes. Overall we loved our stay here - it was comfortable and a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely consider coming again.
