• About Treacle Cottage

Treacle Den and Treacle Cottage are two cosy little cottages ideal for couples looking for somewhere to get away from it all. There are many local villages, gardens, museums, monuments and castles well worth a visit. The cottages sit conveniently within a few minutes’ drive of the motorway yet each enjoys a tranquil spot with countryside to the front and views of Lympne Castle across the fields to the rear. West Hythe is a tiny hamlet within 3 miles of Hythe, Dymchurch and Lympne. Set in a conservation area, with excellent local walks.

A nice cosy cottage for two. Well equipped & furnished. We found it very dark inside & the lighting is not brilliant. The shower is not very powerful

One of the best appointed Holiday Cottages we have booked. Excellently equipped, clean, comfortable. Central for visiting coastal Kent, woth pleny of attractions to visit, but just enough off the beaten track with lovely views.

This was our second stay at Treacle Cottage. It has everything you need for a comfortable break away from home. It is a good base to visit local sites around and about. Owner Natalie makes you feel very welcome and at home and the " Welcome " goodies are very much appreciated. If you don't want to cook the local pub in easy walking distance serves good basic meals, best to book as it's very popular.

Treacle Cottage gave us the opportunity to have a time of relaxation and recovery which we very much needed. We really appreciated the heating of the property which was not restricted and provided 24 hour warmth and also the cleanliness and constant hot water. The cottage itself was comfortable in its furnishing and ambience. The proximity to a very decent pub "Botolphs Bridge" was a Godsend, friendly service and good value. The Bistro at Lympne Castle was also excellent. The cottage was well situated for visiting many local attractions, including The Battle of Britain Memorial site, Samphire Hoe, Hawkinge Museum, the railway ride to Dungeness and the lovely walk along the Royal Military Canal. Sadly the weather was too good for me to waste time at the Ashdown Designer Outlet! Hythe is a clean and friendly town and the promenade is a delightful walk in the sunshine. Many good eateries and coffee and cake bars to enjoy everywhere.

Treacle Cottage is a delightful cottage in a really nice area of Kent. It was beyond our expectations. Everything was perfect and it was decorated with a lovely Christmas tree and decorations. We would definitely stay there gain. The web pictures do not do the cottage justice, it is much bigger inside than we were expecting.

Charming, comfortable cottage in quiet position. Friendly welcome but unobtrusive landlady. Very well and tastefully equipped with everything we needed and more. Beautiful views, lovely walk into village and along the canal to Hythe. Good pub with excellent food a few yards away. Nice touch to find decent biscuits and a bottle of wine waiting for us. Cosy for our winter visit ... would also be lovely in summer with private patio and fields to rear of cottage. Very highly recommended.

This was a lovely little house with all mod cons. There were nice little touches like a bottle of wine and some milk and biscuits provided. The location was good making it central for Hythe to the north and Romney to the south. The pub down the road was great and we ate there every night. The one thing that would make it better would be wifi. I have noticed that many holiday cottages have it these days and not having it made it difficult to keep in touch with family and business.
