What a beautiful place, quiet and peaceful. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The welcome hamper was a very pleasant surprise.
This our fifth visit to Ashlea Pools and we will definitely be going again.
Beautiful location central to varied walks or towns. Welcome basket a very pleasant surprise filled with all the necessaries and a few treats. Onsite staff very helpful
We decided to book the Goldcrest VIP cabin as our main holiday this year and enjoy a holiday involving plenty of fresh air and scenery...we were not disappointed! The location of the park is absolutely stunning, with picturesque views as far as the eye can see!
On entering the cabin, it was clear how beautiful it was! The finishes and design were all of a high quality, and the hot tub was an added bonus. Unfortunately though the bed in the main room is extremely uncomfortable, resulting in poor sleep every night. Also a number of the lights were broken in the bathroom, making it very dark in the shower area. Other than this though, the cabin really was amazing!
The owners kindly include a myriad of leaflets for the surrounding area, including things to do and see, and where is good to eat. We chose the 3 places they highly recommended and were not disappointed. The Jolly Frog is a really good fish restaurant, about 5 minutes' drive away. The Lion in Lentwardine is a lovely spot by the river and does a really good (but busy) steak night on a Tuesday. Finally the Baron at Bucknell (5 - 10 minute drive) was just superb!! If you do not want to drive, the taxi company they recommend are very accommodating, but as they have to travel out from Craven Arms, they are pricey (£12 each way for a 5 minute drive to the Jolly Frog).
We also tried out 2 of the 'Walking with Offa' routes. We would highly recommend these and try as many as you can as they really are lovely walks (some are quite challenging, especially the Battlestones one from Cardington) and most start in the car park of an idyllic country pub, selling scrumptious local beers.
We also hired the bikes out for a day for £15 / bike, which was really good value. We decided to cycle around the local area, which again was so pretty. Hopton Castle is worth cycling or walking to as it is very well restored, as are all the castles in the region. Ludlow castle is a must and really good value (£5 / adult). You could easily spend a good hour or two wandering around the quirky and ornate ruins. Ludlow itself is also a lovely town, with plenty of welcoming tea shops, antiques fairs and markets nearly every day.
One thing to note is that you do need to either drive everywhere or use the public transport (which, understandably, is quite sparse in this area). The nearest pub is a 5-10 minute drive. However, we are a young couple (late 20's) and spent a few evenings in the cabin which was fantastic. The facilities for cooking are perfect, and if you are lucky enough to get good weather, you could sit out on the veranda or even go in the hot tub.
Despite the few negatives, they really are minor in the grand scheme of things and we really do hope to return in the future, so I certainly recommend this park to everyone!
Had an amazing time away. Staff where really friendly and the shop on site had everything you could need. Will definitely be coming back to stay :)
Had a lovely stay, very relaxing, lovely clean lodges. One bad note the the office is closed all day on Sunday which was wasn't good.
A very good weekend break, total chill out and a hot tub as well.
Would benefit from a few more on site facilities. Also, as a fishing site it should sell bait. I was lucky enough to have found out and pre purchased but having spoken to others they were not so lucky and families they were not so fortunate.
This was our first visit to Shropshire and we loved the area and the cabin was well placed for exploring. We stayed in the Mandarin plus. It was pleasant enough and nice and clean, but it felt more like a caravan than a lodge and was quite small. We have stayed in many lodges and this was definately the smallest. For the price we paid, it didnt seem very good value for money. Saying that it was nice and peaceful and the hot tub was lovely, overlooking the lake. It was in an excellent place for visiting Shropshire and we would definately recommend the walk from Carding Mill and a visit to Ludlow Castle and Ironbridge.
Very clean and well equipped lodges. Set in beautiful rural settings.
Dog friendly with plenty of walks. Very well maintained park with great facilities, especially enjoyed the on site fishing and the outdoor hot tub was fantastic.
A lovely quiet spot with surrounding countryside and wildlife.
Excellent lodges, beautiful setting, very helpful, friendly staff. We are returning again later this year.
A wonderful location, quiet and so peaceful. Some previous visitors had complained about the lack of lighting around the hot tub, but relaxing in the tub under the stars with few lights around was amazing! Very helpful, friendly staff and a generous welcome pack on arrival.
We stayed in Lodge number 11 The Kingfisher VIP which allows dogs. The furnishings are to a high standard and the accommodation is very well presented and extremely clean. The hot tub just outside the patio doors is great and is fenced around to make it private. The park is not to big which is perfect as it is quite and relaxing. Would definitely recommend !
It was a lovely relaxing break, hot tub was wonderful! Wish we would have took the dogs!!
