The shallow caravan is a lovely, especially as this is the cheapest caravan to rent on site, but doesn't feel that way. Much nicer than the chalets,

All in all great a holiday. There are a few things in the local area, more to see a short drive away.

We paid for the cheapest caravan on site as we only use it to sleep in because we go out every day. I always say you get what you pay for. But everything was clean. My partner couldn't sleep on the mattress because it gave him a backache, which was a bonus to me, because I had the whole bed to myself. The shower worked well but the cubicle was on the small side

We had a foul smell in the caravan which spoiled our holiday, it came from the bedroom, luckily there was only mum and myself so I slept in the lounge area, they did come in and clean the carpet and offer to move us but this wasn't convenient for my mums disabilities.

the road to and from site very narrow in places

The kids loved it, very relaxing walks along the river. Caravan sofa a little tired.

It really was pretty perfect, ideal location. Beautiful family friendly, couldn't of asked for more.

The caravan served its purpose for us and we have no complaints about it. We had to use the pull out bed mattress onto of the double bed mattress because that mattress was so uncomfortable but that wasn't necessarily a fault with the caravan its each persons tastes/needs. It was clean and had everything we needed.

Lovely setting but the club was a bit tacky and I was disappointed that we had no outside eating facilities, a table and bench set would have made all the difference.

Quite small and the kitchen didn't offer as much space as others we have stayed in.

Caravan not fully equipped no baking tray, frying pan or jug! Grill on cooker didn't work. Only 6 hangers between 4 people. Curtains in bedroom didn't reach in middle. Entertainment didn't cater for all ages aimed mainly at 10 years and under.

We had a basic caravan so you get what you pay for. It was small but served it's purpose. We had a lovely view over the estuary watching the tide coming in and out.

The floors had not been cleaned very well and not a lot of cupboard room in kitchen to place own food. Could have done with more coat hangers to hang towels or things up in all rooms.

Helpfulness of staff
Busy week on site, not many staff in key areas, bar, restaurant and the takeaway was a joke! We waited over an hour for our order. The childrens entertainment team were very good and also our caravan.
Some staff were Rude, the food was awful at the Boathouse but the worst things was the Chalets were cold and Damp even with the heating on with was a cost down to us...
The bad points first :- site is a little out of the way, so its s pity they don't run a bus service into shaldon or teignmouth every couple of hrs say from 10am until 6pm even if there's a small charge for adults.
Children's entertainment is very poorer compared with other sites I've taken my grand children to. As was the adults entertainment which other people who had been to the site before had already told me.
I think that people should be warned this is a very hilly site and certain chalets have problems with parking. Also its not really suitable for people with mobility nor breathing problems.
As for the chalets always ask for a shower as you have to pay for the electric and heating the water eats the electric!!!!
On the plus:- the grand children loved going to the river and walking on the river bed crab fishing, watching the trains on the other side of the river, and we all agreed its well worth going for the halfboard breakfast has fruitjuice, cereal, full English or if you prefer beans on toast etc the toast and jam there's tea or coffee for the adults. The evening its a 3 course meal there's a carvery on 4 nights or curry or lasagna in fact there's so much choice for then a sweet hot or cold. That's excellent £11.00 per day for an adult or £7 for the kids you can't go wrong!!! The grand children highly recommended to all the kids on the site at the time the food. If you just want fish and chips from the take away even they're very good.
The pool hasn't got slides and if you take things in the pool kept an eye on them cos if you leave them other people seem to think they can have them!! The pool is very warm especially when the door to the pool is shut. The life guards both myself and grand children found very friendly. There's use of free lockers to put your things in.
If your in a chalet you do have to pay for the electric having said that when you hand the key back they will give you a refund on any electric you've not used.
The chalets I found very nicely laid out, the linen was clean but you do have to make your own beds. So if you turn up late be prepared to make the bds . I sent my lot off to play whilst I unpacked and made the beds.
The staff on the site are very helpful but reception does shut at 6pm!!
Devon valley is a beautiful family run holiday park, with picturesque views over the harbour and offers the best of both worlds. It has all the facilities you need for a family holiday, i.e. Kids club, swimming pool, clubhouse etc, but at the same time seems small, quiet and quaint. It's a holiday destination that I believe my family will return to year, after year!
Too many caravans squeezed on the park. Insufficient parking across the park for parking next to your caravan. Overflow car park is exactly that when a high tide comes in! Caravan was as expected, as we paid for a fairly new one, but their were no extras, no washing up liquid or sponge, no toilet paper. We booked a table at the carvery when we turned the place was full and they hadn't reserved us one. They joined two tables together and squeezed us in the corner. Indoor pool was good, very conscientious lifeguards and facilities there clean, decent shop - selling lots of extras you will need! Sports court was very dated and needs upgrading. Overall average.

We stayed in a schooner. We arrived 15 minutes earlier than check in and the reception staff were amazing and we could get into our chalet early.
The chalet its self was good and even though it was a pet chalet it was cleaned to a good standard ( I did have to mop the floor though as it was a bit black )
We went in the October half term so was a little cold. the chalet had everything you could need, was spacious, but the chalets ran on electric card meters that you have to pay for ( if you stay in a caravan the caravans electric and gas is included in the holiday price) it was very expensive and we were hardly in the chalet yet used up to £5 a day sometimes. You have to buy the cards from the reception. When I put my first £5 card in £2 disappeared straight away so we only had £3 from the card!
We could only have the heaters on for a quick 15 minutes in the morning and evening to take the chill off the lounge area as these ate through the electric. So we had a very cold week which made it a bit of horrible holiday as it was a very wet cold wee and we ended up spending all our time out and about to stay warm.
I think the electric should be included in the price just like the caravans in front. It ended up very expensive over the seven days to keep the electric meter fed!
The first night there we stayed in as we had a long drive and someone in the connecting chalet next door had left them dog in whilst they went out. It howled and barked non stop for 5 hours plus into the early hours when they came back. The walls are really thin and it was a bit annoying. I did phone the out of hours help line to be told there was nothing they could do. So we had to listen to the poor dog in distress for hours. It was dealt with the next day though and they started to take their dog out with them.
The site its self has a lot to do with a pool, play ground and entertainment. It's a lovely small site with amazing views though and lots to do in the surrounding areas. I would recommend staying in one of the caravans though rather than a chalet as the people who we met on holiday seemed to be having a lovely time in the caravans compared to the people in the chalets.
There's a few places to eat on site and we did try the takeaway which we found expensive for what it is. There's a lovely chip shop in shaldon though. The shop is a small one and stocks everything you could need. They do sell out of stuff quickly sometimes though but there's a morrisons over the river in Teighnmouth for basic supply's.
Brilliant accommodation bit far from facilities but great holiday
I was visiting relatives in the area and this site was picked for conveince. The caravan was a little shabby, the beds very uncomfortable and the quilts provided were not warm enough for autumn use as we had difficulty lighting the fire and had to call for assistance, however this was inconvienient therefore we did not keep phoning reception for this. When the fire was turned on for us, the caravan filled with flies (squating them did entertain the children) We reported this on our departure
The children really enjoyed the children's entertainment and the inhouse singer on the Wednesday night was very goodConveinience
Children's play facilitiesFire difficult to turn on
Quilts not warm enough
The area is fantastic and I like the fact that it is a small site and the staff are always helpfullThe surroundingsThe otter supreme is now very tired looking in need of a revamp my bed was awfull. And entertainment dreadfull
Chalets were very basic and when they said they had heating I wasn't expecting one heater which is why it smelt damp. Anything left on the floor was ruined. But the staff and especially the cleaner were fab and found a lost earing which was centimental. Would book caravan next time.....

We stay several times a year and we always enjoy 😃😃😃
Having stayed at Devon Valley some years ago when our children were very young we decided to revisit as it is a very good location for touring the area.
This time we stayed in a very clean and modern chalet which was better than expected. We had a very good view down to the river from a nice decked verandah and were able to park outside our chalet. The only downside was having to worry about the electric for which we had to purchase a card for the meter and which did run out halfway through a television program!
Although there was a bath we used the shower which was fine. I do feel that the electric should be included with the cost of the
holiday, as with caravans.
The site was clean and well kept. The restaurant was the real selling point for our holiday as it overlooks the river with good all round views and decking. However it would benefit from an update and the adjoining bar/pub definitely needs some attention.
The staff in the restaurant were very attentive and friendly and tables were cleared immediately and cleaned. The food was good and the carvery served very generous portions. All the staff should be praised for the service they provided.
Overall we did enjoy our holiday at Devon Valley and will probably holiday there again.
The location and facilities at Devon Valley are fantastic. The staff that we engaged with were all very friendly and helpful, especially the lifeguard Craig who made our son smile. Despite not being overly happy with the cleanliness of our chalet we'd still like to return as the location is easy to get to and we were able to explore lots of places nearby with ease.

On arrival we booked in at reception, the young lady on duty was most helpful, finding our caravan was a bit of an adventure but got there in the end, our accommodation was not the newest van on site but was clean and comfortable apart from the beds which were the hardest I have ever slept in , we didn't use the facilities at all as we were out all day having our meals while we were out, did look at the swimming pool which looked very good, the shop was very well stocked and prices no more than the average corner shop, all in all a most enjoyable week made better by the glorious October weather.
