We had a lovely warm welcome, the lodge was homely, comfortable, and cosy. The lodge had all the amenities that you need and it was very clean and in good condition. The area is beautiful and tranquil and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas, visiting the village, combe martin, hele bay, ilfracombe, Barnstaple, Woolacombe and walking on the coastal paths.
Had a lovely time really easy to find with lots around to do for all ages
My Husband and I have a wonderful time in this relaxing and picturesque location. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and we had everything we needed in the cabin along with a vast amount of leaflets and information about the local area. Although we didn't bring ours this time, the site is very dog friendly and we would have no worries about bringing ours here. We would be more than happy to return for another stay in the future.
Went in July for a 7 night stay at the Buttercup lodger. The area is nice and is a good walk up from the pub. Some people say the hill is steep, which it is, but nothing too much and provided a enjoyable walk from the local pub. One to note though is both the local pubs lacked real ales which was a real disappointment!
The drive to the park is on some good country roads and provide for a good drive, but only if you are a confident driver, but if you aren't you shouldn't be looking at this area full stop for a holiday!
The lodge was clean and good value for money, I have seen reviews on here complaining about the standard of the places, but you must remember that the lodges are reasonably priced and if you want all posh stuff then go somewhere and pay 5 times more.
The bed was very comfortable and spacious and is probably the best bed we have stayed in. The area had all the amenities you could want including a selection of DVDs in reception.
The disappointing thing was that we never got to meet the owners, I like to meet the people in charge and missed the personal touch. The lodge was also advertised as complimentary tea, coffee & milk but there was no milk only the drinks. No issue for the wife but I like a nice cupper and also the fridge had no bar across which made keeping milk difficult.
Don't be put off with the cost of the electricity as a first it sounds expensive but it really isn't. We have the oil heater on a few times to dry towels etc and the other heaters on a cold night but it only cost us a few quid for the whole week, bargain!
Wifi can be a bit patchy but you figure out where is best to get a signal.
The entrance to the park is very steep which caused issues with getting my car in and out of the site. Although there is nothing the owners could do about this, I feel that a little more information on this would have been good before we went as we would have taken my wifes new Meriva and had no issues with that. Instead it provided entertainment the first night there as trying to get my Astra out was a challenge and after taking a gamble on going forward was unfortunate to crack the bumper and the car is only 6 months old. Eventually figured out that needed to reverse out of the entrance to avoid damage although this was hampered when people parked in the bin area due to the limited parking. Beaware that if you have a lowish car you could have problems getting in and out. Yes the drive is tight with a wide car, but as long as your careful you won't have a problem.
This is the first time we have been to Grattons but would come back to stay again as the location is perfect for a holiday. We would also recommend it for people to stay
Me & my friend had a fantastic few days away , Grattons cedar lodges was the perfect place to stay & the scenery was stunning , the village was beautiful the olde globe inn was very welcoming & do lovely meals too , I would definitely stay again , thank you dave & ros for a brilliant time x
A great place to relax and to enjoy the north Devon coast line. The staff are very welcoming as were the lodges.
Overall a great holiday.
Great place this was our 3rd stay... Will return again this year
Quite place with nice surroundings cabins have everything you need
Owners are very friendly & helpful would recommend it
Fantastic stay, had everything you need. In a lovely area. Definitely need a car to get there though. Worth every penny.
Very nice, well located and quiet
The lodge is very nice inside, its basic but has everything you would need for the weeks holiday, its clean and all appliances work well. The only negative is that the sofa is a little uncomfortable to sit on and as my husband has a bad back he sat on the dining chairs for the weeks stay - which wasn't the end of the world, just thought i would mention it.
The little touches are what made the stay for us, the people who run it have got so many things you can borrow from the reception area and laundry during your stay which was so thoughtful, we found this to be a lovely thing for the owners to do for their guests.
We enjoyed our stay in the Grattons Cedar Lodges. Very friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. The nearby village Berrynarbor is very well kept.
We stayed in Primrose, and absolutely loved it. The lodge was squeakly clean and had everything you could possibly want. The surrounding gardens were lovely, and help to the feeling of privacy which is also due to the way the lodges are placed.
There is a very useful iformation pack in the lodge and also in the nearby reception which is always open and the owners are friendly and helpful as well.
There are lovely walks and views around the lodges and all in all would definitely stay there again.
Fabulous lodge, very clean and modern. We don't normally holiday off the beaten track, but this was a break with our dog, so was perfect-especially as we got a last minute deal for a weekend break. Was a bit out of the way, and the roads were windy and narrow, but the accommodation made up for it. We stayed at the Pixie lodge
The lodges were fine for us. Value for money and everything you needed but for families wanting entertainment etc then this is not the place for you. Quiet and idyllic and fabulous views. May be difficult for people with walking difficulties. Owner was very helpful & pleasant.
