For our only family holiday in the past two years it definetly exceeded out expectations :)
Great location as it's not far from Newquay and close to loads of attractions such as Newquay Zoo, the acquarium and Dairyland. Weather was awful so we were a bit restricted regarding what we could do but there are some great local pubs and restaurants and villages to explore. Accomodation was good and didn't feel too overlooked. The pool is fantastic, although no one seems to obey the 'no shoes in changing rooms rule' and the floor was mucky although staff tried to keep it as clean as possible. Bring some flip flops for walking around in the changing rooms. Would've recommend the site.
Caravan was fine but having to pay for bedding and £50 deposit was not what l would have expect stayed in lower standards before and have had the bedding included and no key deposit and if l have had to pay key deposit it has been only £25 then they only took it if any damages so they just reserved so l couldn't spend it on card and within a couple of days leaving was released back on my card rather than they took money and then l had to wait 10 days to get back and even then had to wait for cheque to clear. Also paying separate for the pool only used because they gave us free passes otherwise wouldn't have used as with 4 kids worked out pricey then it was quiet crowded in there.
We have been going to Hendra for many years, would recommend to anyone, but just hope it doesn't become too popular for it's own good!
Great place to take the scooter ☺
The site is great with a good pool for the kids and fun entertainment in evenings. Very close to centre of Newquay with kid friendly beaches. Will look into bringing our dog with us next time too.
Have stayed at Hendra a number of times over the last 20 years and have never been disappointed. The site is immaculate, facilities are excellent, a great pool for the kids and the staff are friendly and helpful. Great value for money, ideally situated for lots of surrounding attractions.
We had another amazing time at Hendra. My only critisism would be the length of time it took to get into the pool area on at least 4 occassions ie. que length and lack of staff help, bearing in mind we had pre booked swimming tickets as residents, and needed to wait on average 20mins to get into change behind people paying and ordering food for parties etc!! Once inside it was busy but we expected that and still had fun. Could probably invest in a larger and cleaner shower area in changing rooms.
For size of portions the chip shop to expensive, swimming pool to expensive, poor food service in the restaurant, bingo unfair pay out rules not clear, not enough gifts in the ticket exchange for the arcade maybe just to busy will not come at peak times again.
Caravan was lovely - very clean and tidy and furnishings were in good condition.
Pool is excellent however I did feel that we should be offered a better price on entry if we were staying on the site (I did feel that £2.99 per person was quite alot as there were 5 of us).
Supermarket - good choice.
Fish and chip shop ok.
Didn't try the pizza restaurant or the bar.
Entertainment was good.
Good facilities. Clubhouse could do with been bigger.
Lovely site and well kept caravans. The site itself is clean and the staff were always helpful. We stayed in a Perran 3 and we were lovely and cosy in very high winds and rain. The train ride around the site was enjoyed by the kids and Henry Hippo came along for some pics and some fun. The only downside for us was the facilities for the entertainment. The entertainment itself was very good with the team putting on a variety of different shows, but the layout of The Venue we found to be lacking a little due to the shape and sheer number of tables in the room. Those at the back would be hard pushed to see what's happening unless they look at the helpfully place tv screens which transmit the events occurring on the dance floor/stage. And although the kids/parents were encouraged to come up on to the dance floor during party dance time, we were packed in like sardines and the little ones risked an accidental elbow in the ear if they moved into the vicinity of an over enthusiastic parent.(I was one such parent- sorry... small child!). Facilities on site included chip shop (yum), pizza place (not tried), shop (got the basics) 2 amusement arcades, cafe (not tried) skate park (not tried), play park (entertained kids nicely for a while). And last but by no means least the Oasis swim centre which the kids loved. This was clean and well managed and had 3 flumes to entertain us. Go when it first opens to get plentiful rides on the flumes. There's a big Morrison's nearby and a bus stop outside the park. A short drive takes you into Newquay (watch your speed on the road directly outside the park as there were police speed checking in the area)All in all i would recommend Hendra to anyone wanting a clean site with good facilities and good entertainment and pleasant staff (just make sure you get to the entertainment early (6!) to get a decent spot.
Superb holiday park
Lovely park & facilities great for all age children. Caravan very clean. Location is great. All staff were very helpful & friendly. Park very safe for children to play & highly recommended. Will be looking to return
Need more staff on during booking in times. It took a long period of time. Also have never had to pay £50 breakage fee before, & we've stayed in a lot of different places! Is this necessary for a family holiday? Additionally I think if u pay it on a debit card (the payment was taken immediately from my account) payment should be reimbursed in the same way, instead of waiting for a cheque& then having to wait for it to clear! Aside from these issues we had a very pleasant family holiday.
