All breaks for all arrivals
Me and my boyfriend recently stayed in the Oakwood Lodges and it was amazing. Could not fault the lodge one bit! The hot tub was the best part. The location means having to drive everywhere and the place was not sign posted very well at all but we would definitely go back! Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for a loveky break away!
The lodges are set in a very peaceful location, our lodge was next to the Lake but you couldn't see it as the reeds were very tall surrounding the decking area! One thing the owners need to address is the track leading up to the lodges, it is very rough and narrow for the first half mile. As we arrived we met a car coming the other way and had to dive into the undergrowth, we then has stones coming out from under the car for days which got stuck as we tried to reverse out of the ditch we found ourselves in!! Not a good start, but things did get better!
Good value! Not as nice as Griffon Forest but for the money, you really can't complain.
No staff on arrival and no one to check us in, were then told over phone that keys were in door. Lodge was in need of repair, broken glass panes, no lights outside on hot tub which was dangerous. Tired and grotty furniture. Fridge not working so we had to throw a lot of food away. Lodge next door had a party one night and kept everyone up until gone 3am. Lodge manager was called and nothing done. Waste of money and we left 3 days early.
This was our third time staying here and we really enjoy it. The location is great and the Lodges are spot on.
Our only complaint would be that the mattress is desperate for replacement, other than that we were happy with everything.
Lovely stay at a lovely place would recommend for that nice getaway but not that far away thank you
The lodges and hot tubs are excellent. The location is average but you are close to Selby and York which the family enjoyed spending time at. If you are after peace and quiet it's perfect.
Excellent stay, some of the reviews for here are quite scathing, Acorn lodge was lovely, could just perhaps do with some screening between it and the lodge on the left, and for its occupants to keep their language clean (this was during our stay nobody else's)
The lodge was clean, well presented, we were met by a very helpful lady. The bed was v comfy, the settee also. The kitchen area was clean, although someone previously has broken off the bar in the fridge so you can't use the door, minor stuff.
Everything else was great, it was quiet, v quiet (other than language as above). The hot tub was great clean, big, ample for two.
Overall really enjoyed and would go again
No noise relaxing weekend escape would go again.
Had a fantastic week away here. Very good for people who can drive and get about, which was ideal for us as I'm 9 months pregnant and didn't mind going out driving, other wise your looking at about £15 each way into selby or a bit more to the York outlet where you can get a bus into York for the day. Lovely surroundings, nice and peaceful. Was a bit gutted that we didn't get to use the hot tub on The first night as it wasn't hot enough and this was still at 10.30 at night, so we paid for a hot tub and 1 night we didn't get to use it, which is a shame! Cabin is set far back over a farmers field but don't be put off coz soon as you step into the cabin it's lovely and modern and clean. Bathroom could do with updating though. Was an overall lovely holiday and would deff go back.
Couldn't fault it one bit. Excellent value for money
The lodge it self was clean and modern, although a little tired... Such as bathroom - every time you had a shower the bathroom floor got wet due to no seel on the bottom of the shower screen over the bath, (hazard) TV had very poor reception, no wifi, nothing on the site for kids to entertain themselves with, my children are aged 10-12 they loved the hot tub and have been on several holidays like this before. If you want to read and site-see it's perfect with beautiful surrounding areas within 40 mins each way.
the people who own it are very nice, the wifi doesnot work and you wont get a phone signal. there is literally nothing there its in the middle of nowhere, but if you just want to relax its good, or a base to drive to places from there.the lodges are very private but they do need a little bit of diy. my biggest gripe was that its so enclosed, we took the dog thinking there would be some good walks. but there isnt unless you drive to them. still enjoyed it though.
me and my boyfriend came here for his birthday and it was beautiful, we really enjoyed it! would totally recommend this place to everyone. had a great weekend :)
Everything was ok until Monday morning around 1am. There seems to be a slaughter house or something and for 4 hours straight pigs squeling. We had to leave to come home at 5am as we could not take the noise
