The restaurant was too long a walk from the Park
The holiday at Percy Park was excellent. We visited the park on 22nd August for a week. We had a Cheviot caravan.
The caravan was very good with a lovely shower and ensuite toilet in main bedroom. For a tip take two handtowels and 2 hand gel for both bathroom areas. One small item I would like to see in the caravan would be hangers in the bathroom to hang your towel and clothes up.
The other areas in the caravan were good. The carpet in the living area was starting to fray, but for a week we were there we did not take that much notice of it.
The customer service is very good. Ask questions about the area as they have a lot of local knowledge. Included in the welcome pack we received were free tokens for the local swimming baths. (They do not have a pool on site.) Also they have free bicycles to use if you wish to. There is free use of sports area. Finally included were tickets for 15% off Alnwick Castle. The castle is a must to see as it is so close to the caravan site and you discover how the park got its name.
Do remember this site is generally a golf club site and will suit people who like a quiet holiday. The site caters for privately owned caravans and a few rental caravans. If you are a golf fan this caravan site could be for you.
If you have time visit the golf complex clubhouse and have a Sunday lunch. We had the lamb dinner and the food was great. I have never had lamb so thick and about 3 slices of meat. The meal was reasonably priced.
There is local wildlife in and around the caravan park. There are quite a few ducks. On one night we saw a peacock on the side of the road displaying its lovely feathers.
On the whole we enjoyed a great sight seeing holiday. We had no problems. I would recommend this park for the peace and quiet and has a base to explore the local area.
The staff were very helpful and gave good advise for local activities etc.
Pricey compared with cottages in the area. Sparse heating in cooler weather
Percy Wood Country Park was a great base for our Northumbrian holiday. It is set in a lovely central and quiet location which was good for reaching all the places we wanted to visit. Would definately visit again.
A lovely family 4 night break. A wonderful caravan park, most helpful and courteous staff. the caravan was all we might have expected and more. Ideal site for visits to alnmouth, Bamburgh, Alnwick. Excellent food in the clubhouse. excellent food in the nearby "Cook and Barker".
Thank you to all. We will certainly be back.
This is a very nice, quiet site which allows you to chill out. It is very well maintained and spotlessly clean.
We will definitely be returning here.
We had an amazing week, the site was nice and quiet just the way we like it.There were plenty of places to visit.
Percy Wood is a pleasant and friendly place to stay, the caravan was clear, tidy and nicely positioned in a quiet location.
My main criticism would be the caravan contents which you could address with ease, for an 8 berth caravan the TV was far too small for 8 people to sit around, I'm not saying it needs to be excessively large a simple 32" screen would have been nice also, as the area is lacking in grocery shops it would have been nice if the site shop was stocked more appropriately.
Hope these comments help to improve your service and facilities.
percy wood is nice quiet site, if the caravan we had stayed in had been better quality we would have enjoyed our stay. the staff did help with extra pillows but when dealing with a faulty gas fire problem they just left matches to light it a nearly ran away to avoid fixing the problem.
when asked if they could trim a nearby small tree branch that was catching the caravan and had kept us up all night when it was windy they just smiled and walked off, it never did get cut.
Lovely calm and quiet park with excellent facilities and situated close to everything worth experiencing in Northumberland, highly recommended !
Beautiful setting, very quiet and well maintained site, easy access for all the Northumberland attractions. Will definitely be back.
The park was in a convenient location for Northumberland's attractions and in a very attractive setting.
The reception staff were helpful, for example when we had a small problem lighting the gas fire.
The only downside was the rather long walk to the bar which one of our party, who has a disability, found impossible to manage. We were also disappointed with the quality of the meal which we had one evening.
Wish the bar/restaurant was more convenient.
When arriving after dark, the caravan numbers are not very well lit up, could do with bigger signs to show the names/numbers up better. Overall good place to stay.
