All breaks for all arrivals
We had a love holiday but I think the caravan could have been cleaner. We had a broken bedroom door that someone kicked in. We reported this and was told that it would be repaired. Never was. The boiler kept leaking and causing a puddle in the cupboard but we reported it and found it still to be the same all our holiday. Outside are caravan the road edge had collapsed in and I fell down and hurt my ankle. We went to report this and found the reception closed. As for the restaurant we ordered chicken tekia and was given chicken korma which was to say the least dreadful. No it is not a place we would stay again.
myself and my family had a very enjoyable holiday here.
The cottage was perfect for us and allowed our dogs to come too.
The fishing pond was a big bonus however the price of £45 a week to use it was far too much, there should be discounted prices for people who have already paid to stay on the park.
I can't say the staff were overly helpful and the reception was often closed and I was charged an £8 deposit to hire towels for the week but when I returned them I was told it wasn't a deposit it was a hire charge and I wouldn't get my money back. So remember to pack your own.
The kitchen had all utilities, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge and freezer.
We would stay here again
Wight cottage itself was lovely, just found the armchairs and sofa bed uncomfortable. Washer/dryer not working properly and still not repaired after 2 phone calls and a visit to reception! Club very quiet on a night. Having said this I would still consider booking again in the future as basically one of the better places that I have stayed that accept pets.
The maintenance was very poor, lights not working, cap missing off a valve on a rad, no ironing board,no washing up bowl, rubbish by the side of the cottage.
Cottage was pokey and smelt of damp, cigarettes and dog. Both our children had flea bites by day 2 so we limited the amount of time spent in cottage. Restaurant was grubby and dirty plates were left on tables throughout morning and evenings even though there were staff just chatting at counters. Beds were tiny so husband had to sleep on floor--we waited 6 hours for spare duvet to be delivered. The showers were broken in pool and staff couldn't tell us when they would be fixed-they were broken for the whole time we were there. We won't be going back and wouldn't recommend it to any of our friends.
Worst ever and never coming back
Got the keys from the reception and the envelope clearly mentioned as READY.
Went in and it was not been cleaned at all. I came out and check the door number to see whether I have come to a wrong one as this has never happened before in any of the places that I have been.
First day ordered fish and chips, chips were half cooked. Asked for chicken wings from the Manu and found out it has ran out after about 30 minutes.
Next day ordered chicken and rice which included Naan bread and onion balls. Received after 50 mins with a burnt onion ball and without a naan bread.
We waited 5-10 mins and ask them to find out that naan bread has run out. They should have at least tell that without keeping there mouth shut.
After all end up with a stomach ache for 2-3 days.
Heated pool was very cold and shower has no hot water.
So, never be coming again and sharing this with everyone to save their money.
Was disappointed . The caravan was shabby and I left it cleaner than when I arrived, I feel the staff were lovely, but over worked and left to cope with too many jobs. Reception was not always maned in the allocated time. The entertainment was poor and not enough variety.
We stayed during school holidays for a week, in a Wight cottage. The park is in a nice setting and so is the cottage but looking around, we wouldn't want to stay in one of the caravans. Didnt look very appealing. We didnt use many of the facilities as we were out all of the days, so cant comment on those. The bar is very JDW, food is ok. Only one ale which seemed very watery so not to my liking, but plenty of families eating and drinking lager and cider so its working for many.
The park is easy to get to from the ferry, and centrally located and around 20-30 minutes' drive to most beaches. There is a handy Fish'n'chip shop on site which is useful for families with kids. There is a co-op 5 minutes' walk from the park, open 7 days a week ( a bit pricey for main-landers).
The location was excellent as was assessable with ease to the entire island. Good value for money and would return again. Areas for improvement would be the double bed foam mattresses as they were extremely uncomfortable and the cottages were very close to each other.
While we enjoyed our holiday and if i had a choice i would come back, it was a close call. The resort was basic and could do with a little bit of investment. There was a couple of occassions where there were no staff around to help and when there was, they weren't very helpful. There was a couple of times where we were ignored by the reception team and there was even a time where no one was available to serve at the bar for over 5 minutes and there wasnt even anyone at reception. I don't think this was at all professional or suitable.
The accommodation was not clean on our arrival. Didn't appear to even have been attempted. Cobwebs on kitchen utensils and filthy oven and dish washer!
On a number of occasions there was not the choice of food as stated on the menu!
Needs a stronger management
Beautiful park in beautiful setting. Staff were really good always on hand if you needed them. Food was very good and also cheap which was nice.
Pool was on small size but adequate. Good outside pool as well.
there were a few arcades which kept them entertained.
Caravan was very out dated. We had to call manager out as it had 2, separate leaks throughout out week. Maybe the higher grade ones were better?
Overall good base for IOW just shame about the caravan. Only 1 thing I would say is when it's a wet day there isn't any thing to keep them amused on the park.
We have stayed at Rookley Park many time, but felt disappointed on our last visit. The park is beginning to look very tired now and the bungalows are quite shabby. The cleanliness was below average and I had to report a few things to the receptionist, just basic things for paying guest, ie broken tiles on the floor in the bathroom cutlery and crockery needed washing and crisps on the floor in the bedroom. You can see that work is in progress, and hopefully this will not deter other guest from coming back! The evening entertainment was excellent, they did work very hard! This is a lovely site, just need to up their game slightly!!
Family entertainment no good(tots disco). Are caravan was right next to toilets so the hand dryer kept us awake every time it went off. Boy worker in pool very good and pools were always hot which is good. Food very good in resturant.
Really enjoyed my stay, friendly safe environment for the kids, good fishing and good entertainment, however they do need to employ More staff, although the staff there are all extremely helpful more people need to be there to run the bars etc as sometimes you had to wait up to 20 mins just to get served at the bar and waiting times for food were ridiculous,
