His life and work are celebrated at Bowhill House, a Georgian mansion also home to an exceptional art collection and with lovely woodland walks in its extensive grounds. A must for any caravan holidays in Selkirkshire is a trip to Abbotsford house, the home built by Sir Walter Scott. As well as featuring turrets and battlements, it boasts a number of historic relics including Rob Roy’s gun. In the town of Jedburgh, pretty painted houses line the main street – take a town tour, and explore the ancient abbey ruins.
