we reached there, there was no person on reception to help us , managed by very old people. Not good for families and young people, no entertainment , very isolated place and will not recomend to anyone.
The caravan was gorgeous we really just used it as a Base to explore the area, it was also dog friendly so that was also great, but we had our two kids with us and they had little to do at the actual site as the park was dated and there was few other kids there, we kept them busy but would have been nice if they had met friends. It was quiet and a lovely escape the views of the beach were spectacular and all in all we had a lovely time.
Fantastic little site lovely and clean and right next to the beach. A bit of a narrow country lane drive down to the site but pull in places along the way. If your looking for a quiet site next to the beach you can't go wrong. Bar area with a pool table all very modern and well looked after. Would definitely return in the future.
This is a beautiful site and our caravan was perfect, with the sea view.
We are definitely coming again and have recommended to others.
Marked 8/10 for surroundings as the outlet pipe leading from Sellafields into the sea put us off paddling a little.
Perfect location for going into the Lake District National Park and a short drive to Whitehaven Harbour, St Bees, Keswick etc.
Beautiful standard of caravan! Highly recommended. Just don't wander too far down the beach!
Lovely location over looking the sea, very peaceful and quiet. We were happy with the site because it met our requirements, however we believe that it was over priced because of the lack of facilities. We paid the full peak rate because it was the school summer holiday but really there was nothing there for children. The beach was lovely when the tide was out but the large band of stones across the top of the beach would have made it very difficult for anybody to access the beach with, say, a push chair.
I was unimpressed by the facilities although we did not use the bar as we had young children to look after. The kids could play on the beach, but the railway line meant they needed supervision.
Best thing about this park was the sea view. It as a large number of residential homes on it. What they don't tell you or show you is the monstrous sight of sella field nuclear plant right on the door step !
I had to clean the caravan kitcen (properly) before use. It was in need of a decent clean. We didn't use a lot of the untensils, we decided to clean what we needed. the crockery was disgusting. I guess the previous holiday makers weren't too fussed about washing up before they left and the caravan cleaners must not have checked these things. A pleasant-ish stay but won't return. The club house was a friendly place. The double bed needs replacing too, v uncomfortable.
The van was clean as was the park. The staff were helpful however there was nothing on site and the nearest shop was a 20 min drive away. If you are looking for complete peace and quite this is the site for you. The beach access for long walks is perfect.
We stayed at Tarnside park for 3 nights during June.
The park is very quiet on the coast. So is lovely and peaceful. There is no on site shop so make sure you take everything with you! Or it is a bit of a drive on very narrow roads to the next town as there is no corner shop in the village. Which we thought was a bit odd?
We stayed in one of the pet friendly caravans. It was very very clean and Tidy. Far better than some of the dog friendly caravans we have stayed in before!
Had lots of room and a power shower- lovely!!
Our Dog loved running on the beach and we were lucky the tide was out during the day.
The caravan park has a Tarn that has private fishing for the guests staying at the park. We had read some bad reviews about the fishing before we went so my husband wasn't expecting much. Well... he ended up having one of the best fishing times on a short break he has ever had!!!
The people that wrote the bad review obvousily don't know how to fish!!!!
The tarn is full of Pike and Roach. Pike of all sizes small to big monsters!
In two days my husband caught about 7 pike and loads of Roach. It's like a fishermans hidden gem! We were so surprised how good it was especially catching pike in the middle of June.
Anyway the site itself is very basic so if it's peace and quiet you want then it's great. You can drive to St bees or Whitehaven if you want days out etc.
Overall for us it was a great little place. For a relaxing couple of days by the seaside with the bonus of some good fishing!!
We would go again x.
The van was clean and tidy and any problems were sorted quite quickly. The view from our van was lovely we were able to watch the activity on the Tar
The caravan was really nice and large and very clean.the site was okay but a long way from anywhere and the roads where so narrow that you could not pass a car coming the other way. Its also very close to sellerfield the atomic plant. All the staff where polite and helpfull, it was just a bit to far from anywhere .
Lovely quiet site caravan was big and comfortable and everything you could hope for.
There is a small club on site if you want a drink but unfortunately there is no food available
so you have to go to Beckermet if you want to eat out but there is a lovely pub there
lovely peaceful site, good views, lovely comfortable caravan
