I’m afraid to say, it wasn’t a “beautifully appointed lodge” or “Luxury” as the website suggests. As soon as we arrived at the lodge, all the windows in the property were open and no lights on near the front door, so we fumbled with our keys to get in. Once in, put the heating on, and removed a previous occupiers old dry baby or face wipe from the floor, we were quite taken a-back by the condition of the carpet, but after a day at work and a long drive with our pet, we decided to put that aside. However, that evening, we did encounter some continuous issues with the lighting, and I see fit that the following needs to be rectified, with either missing lamp encasing or bulbs that do not work:
Replace bulbs and lampshade duo near fridge on the side (x1 bulb not working and x1 lampshade missing)
Replace cracked and broken lampshade on the big light on the side table in the living room
Replace bulb in side lamp in double bedroom
Replace two bulbs in bubble lamp in double bedroom
Replace cracked lampshade in twin room
Replace missing bubble lamp encasing in twin room
Replace two bulbs in bubble lamps in twin room
The next day we saw the actual condition of the carpet in the daylight and were appalled. There are multiple large soiled stained areas all throughout the property. I have attached photos to my email to show. I understand that these lodges are used by short term occupiers only, however, I am surprised why the household team have not thought to have them professionally cleaned. Also, regardless if the lodge is “pet friendly”, they should have been cleaned. The discoloration and smell of the carpet, subsequently lead to us wearing shoes/socks inside and put doubts in our minds about the cleanliness of the rest of the lodge. Following this, we used a spare duvet from the twin room to sit on on the sofa for the duration of our stay.
My partner and I discussed about speaking to a member of the Warren Lodges team, but with a day out planned, our personal belongs all put away, our pet just about settled, evening planned in the hot tub, we decided to just let it go. I was also concerned that there may not be any other pet friendly lodges available.
Unfortunately, the problems don’t stop there, and there are other issues in this particular lodge that need to be addressed:
Professionally clean the carpets throughout. At least twice. It is full of stains, discoloration and is holding a strange (possibly pet) smell.
Fix bathroom lock on main bathroom as it doesn’t lock
Either clean or replace kitchen blind- it’s disgusting (photo attached)
Put a blind up in the en suite for privacy
Replace broken front door blind that is missing most of the slats
Wash stained ironing board cover
Throw away the fake rose plants that have lost most of its flowers
Replace air fresheners that are so old, the jelly has gone small, hard and doesn’t smell anymore
No Champagne flutes?!
Complete pre-arrival checks- IE we found a hair in our mismatching wine glasses and a tub of the previous occupiers Ice Cream in the freezer
Re-seal around the splashback behind the kitchen sink
Minor cleanliness: Dirt in the cutlery draw, dried egg on a spatula, crumbs in the bread bin.
Fix the dripping tap in the kitchen
I didn’t test the smoke detector as I could not reach, but I did not see the light flicking to indicate it was working
Re-print the welcome pack, its falling to pieces and looks like it has been in the hot tub itself!
I have highlighted these points to the staff and Hoseseasons, and am still waiting for a response three weeks on.
