We spent the easter break at Woodlakes and for us ladies it was quite basic, although couldn't fault the lakes and surrounding areas it was all kept very neat and tidy. For keen fishermen I would imagine they would be in their element. Sadly, we were not successful on the fishing front.
We love Woodlakes, this was our third visit and we plan to come back.
My only small bits of feedback would be:
- to install thicker, or blackout blinds in bedrooms (the wafer thin cream blinds means we are woken at sunrise!)
-To sell a bit more in the shop. A few kids toys, or small books, games would sell well and won't go out of date if they don't have a fast turnover.
As I say this is just feedback, not complaints :)
We went in March. There were several frosts during our stay which meant that we used quite a lot of electricity. Notwithstanding that, the cabin was well equipped and clean but two of the roller blinds did not work properly and had to be rolled up and down with fingers. A minor point but we did inform the staff on leaving and are sure that it will be fixed. Could perhaps do with a bit bigger TV. Fishing was excellent in one of the other lakes. I caught 116 fish during my stay ranging from small roach to a 12lb carp, a 5lb tench. One of the roach weighed in at 1 1/2lb. It is definitely a fishing venue but we did go to Cambridge for a day (you must try Jamie Oliver's restaurant) and Eley Cathedral on another day. Downham Market is a nice little place with a cracking butcher.
the resort was very good afraid the weather was not good but we maid the most of it.
really enjoyed our few days we have been several times so we just settle in the weather was good and husband caught quite a few really nice fish we will be coming again we love the calm and beautiful surroundings
site very good
Natural surroundings in a quite peaceful location, plenty of wildlife and fishing to suit all anglers
Ideal for fishing
Would have been nice to have been told you need to take towels.
Only one bath mat provided. So we had to go out and buy towels and tea towels.
Lady on reception was not helpful at all!
Booked for a fishing weekend and no one around the lake for the whole weekend caught one fish? Is it even stocked?
We had a brilliant time and this was our second visit
Beautiful setting, well set out for both fishers and non fishers alike. The only problem is the access road when it is very wet. Having said that there have been improvements made already this year. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and it is a lovely peaceful break. Both times we have stayed in November and although it can get chilly it is still cosy enough not to spoil your break.
very enjoyable stay
We have been a few times and will return again.
