Quiet location out the way. Can't see much of the loch but it was clean and perfect as a base to explore castles, walks, lochs, rivers and between fort william for ben nevis and the nearest city, inverness. Sadly, access to loch ness is very hard to find.
Lodge also had a sofa bed.
Water is a private supply from a borehole and was clean and fine to drink. This is fairly normal in the Highlands. I had read a review of issues with supply in the past but clearly been solved with a new borehole. You have to buy electric cards. We spent £10 for the week but very careful, didnt use heating and spend most time away. Expect it to double if it is very cold.
Lovely quiet location. A bit out of the way with steep 3mile drive. Great for walking.
The location is wonderful and the lodge was simple but clean . What let it down for me was the lack of communication between myself and the staff . I found it to be very impersonal . There were a few occasions where it was necessary to communicate and it simply wasn't forthcoming ...for example we had no electric on that site for 5 hours .although they were aware of this there was no communication at all made to me also road blocked and no access to site ..again this should have been reported to us .
Lovely stay at the lodges. Enjoyed it and there are lots of places to visit/things to do. The rooms were very neat and tidy although maybe the extra blankets would do with washing after a stay otherwise good place to stay.
Lodge kitchen needed a good clean cooker about 29 years old very out of the way not a awful lot of walks close by if u had dogs lots of fenced off places couldn't see the lochs as so many trees in front of the cabin
Had a lovely holiday although very high up the mountain didn't have a view of loch Ness as it was surrounded by trees.lodge was nice although cutlery drawer was dirty and no lock on the toilet door.
2nd time back , planing next one soon ,for peace and quiet u cant find a better place .if looking for night life dont bother, great wee place
Very nice place
And way made very welcome
This was booked as a last minute getaway and to be honest we were only looking for somewhere to sleep and use as a base for trips out. We had read other reviews prior to booking, but after we arrived we thought that we definitely chose the right place to book, the lodge was clean and lovely, the site was always clean, the staff were exceptionally helpful and as my wife says the only negative was being woken by the birds signing in the morning. Definitely recommend this site to other people and in fact we are already looking at booking for next year and taking the family as well.
Lovely spot with my son who in joy it.
The lodge was okay but it just wasn't for us.
Stunning views and a great location for peace and quiet. My dogs loved it aswell. Lovely clean cabin. And the road was kept clear and well gritted after the snow. I will definitely book again.
This was the worst holiday ever the place was smelling of stale smoke burns on the carpets mould everywhere and the water was blue i ended up ill was constantly sick and I'm still the same and it was so cold and that was us using £5 a day in electric would have left after 1st day but couldn't get availability anywhere this place is horrendous and should be shut down not happy at all
The lodge was basic but served the purpose as it was only used as a base. The grounds were well kept and tidy and the lady in charge very pleasant
The down side was the location . it was to far from the village and the single track road wasn't the greatest.
All this said ,I would consider using the lodges again.
We managed to find Ancarraig no problem. The road leading up to it was an amazing experience, absolutely gorgeous scenery and in the middle of nowhere. You truly were secluded. The staff were really helpful, making us feel very welcome.
