What a fantastic weekend we had, the lodge is excellent with everything that you could need. Every where is spotlessly clean and peace and tranquillity too.
The hot tub was a real bonus; the weekend was a 60th birthday treat and didn't fail to please us all.
I would recommend this retreat to anyone and hope to go again one day.
We stayed in Mandarin lodge 8, which is one of the cheaper cabins, so we weren't expecting 5 star accommodation, and have no complaints at all about the cabin. It is obviously one of the older ones but everything worked O.K. The single beds are a bit small and fairly close together, O.K. for children, but a bit tight for anyone 6ft. The reason we went to Ashlea Pools was so that I could fish, usually in the evening and into the dark, this was O.K. with the owners,(we spent every day looking at various towns & villages and enjoyed the week in that respect) The fishing however was not what I had hoped for, the pond contains a lot of Golden Orfe, too many for comfort, and whatever I put on the hook I got one, usually about 6-8 oz, the biggest I got was about 2lb, I did get one or two proper carp,up to about 10lb,but these only came on the surface baits (which are not allowed according to the fishing rules of the site, but I was told that these were under review, so........ The other thing was the banks of the pond, these are in need of some serious attention, there are only a couple of places where you can sit comfortably ,plus a couple of small platforms, which are not big enough for fishing at night, a lot of the bankside vegetation needs cutting back to allow access to the water. This pond is ideal for teaching a child to fish but not for any half-serious angler .We enjoyed the holiday and could recommend the place ,but it isn't for anyone interested in semi-serious fishing.I would consider it again if they took all the orfe out, and put a few other species in.
Had a really fantastic trip and a much needed family break away. Our lodge was stunning and the hot tub was a luxurious touch!
We had a wonderful holiday, everything was fantastic. The staff were so helpful and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend this site!
A BEAUTIFUL PLACE VERY TRANQUIL, THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THERE WAS NO MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL AND AS I HAVE GOT A 87 YEAR OLD MOM I NEED FOR HER TO BE ABLE TO CONTACT ME ALL THE TIME , SO WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A STRESS FREE HOLIDAY TURNED OUT VERY STRESSFUL INDEED
very nice place but a bit concerened that they wanted all my credit card details incase of damages to which i did not give as this would have compromised the security of my card so therefore had to pay £100 deposit also shower taps Leaked but apart from that a very nice kept place
Had a fabulous stay very quiet and relaxed nice walk to the castle on the Sunday!, would have liked wifi but was also nice to be able to switch off.
Little bit expensive but thought the lodge and surrounding area was great.
Wonderfull lodge very clean comfy & quite only very small negative is could do with a few more cupboards in kitchen for storing food if there for a week like we was . Massive bath wonderful walk in shower good fishing would recommend.
we had a 4 night stay in a kingfisher v.i.p, lodge which was very clean and well
kitted out with everything you would need The welcome pack was a nice surprise
and again contained everything to start your holiday off to a good start
we would most certainly recommend this park to all our friends and family
Second time we have stayed at Ashlea Pools. It's a great location to tour around the local area. The train is good for getting in to Shrewsbury so you can leave the car at the site and take it easy. The staff were brilliant from the moment we arrived to the day we left. Nothing was to much. We got there a little early and the lodge was not quiet ready so we were given a tea and a coffee whilst we waited. The welcome pack is a lovely touch to start the holiday. Again many thanks to all the staff.
We stayed at Ashlea Pools Lodges for our 1st Wedding Anniversary, The staff here were very friendly and helpful during our stay and even recommended nice eateries in the local area. There was a welcome pack on arrival which consisted of Bread, Milk, Tea, Coffee and even Cheese and Pick & Mix. The area was very remote but this was just what we were after for a nice relaxing break. The Hot Tub was an excellent addition to the Lodge, Would highly recommend staying here and I will be returning in the future.
we stayed in the goldcrest lodge for our honeymoon and we couldnt of picked a better place to stay the lodge is very luxurious would definetly stay again .
We had a perfect stay at Ashlea Pools. It's in a wonderful location; so that despite being quiet and rural you are in a reasonable distance to shops/bars/restaurants (Ludlow is less than 10 miles away).
Our welcome upon checking in was warm and friendly (the complimentary welcome hamper was so thoughtful!) and the staff in the shop were always helpful.
The site is well maintained and the wildlife presence was lovely.
As someone who can be very picky - I cannot fault this holiday park! We shall certainly be returning.
A great place in a beautiful setting. The lodge itself was well decorated and stylish, although there were 2 large screen TV in living area one was obviously broke but still on the wall and a fairly old scratched one was on the table below it. Only briefly used so no worries. Kitchen and shower rooms were fantastic, clean and modern. The hot tub while it was lovely to relax in was old and in need of repair/replacing lights did not work and only a few nozzles worked. Still it did it's job of relaxing us well. One big problem is no WIFI..this a major pain as some people need to access the web regularly for business etc. Overall I was not disappointed as it gave us what was needed, a relaxing break with the use of a hot tub. Will definitely use again. Lodge number 18.
