On arrival had to call the owner and was told that keys were in chalet and they had put electric on Meyer for me and they would collect money day after but did not see any member of staff for the duration of holiday and even had to ring when I was ready to leave to be able to pay them
The over all place is best suited for a quite break, it may have been a little too quite at times but it was in the winter period. Regarding staff we didn't see a single person , reception was closed with phone numbers on the window to call , called and they had already left the key in the cabin for us , we then called due to the oven not coming on they didn't seem happy that they had to come and have a look at that either , their was no instructions on where to leave te key and the money for the electric metre when we left , just needed more organisation.
Loved it! The host was great too when we met her
Lodge good well equipped but a real musty smell . But only saw staff once that's when leaving.
We were greeting by a very friendly lady who told us what we needed to know and directed us to our lodge.
Good location and peaceful setting
We visited Beechwood Park 3 years ago and returned. We use the accommodation as a base to visit Alton Towers during the school holidays.
A great place for a relaxing break, we were left to our own devices and not hasselled at all which suited us just fine. Lodge was of a high standard and spotlessly clean. Only crib would be having to pay separately for the electricity, found ourselves constantly checking the meter in case we ran out. (Our area of the site actually had a power cut one evening lasting just under an hour, could have been a problem if you were in the shower or cooking a meal! Only a minor hiccup though, the standard of the lodge more than made up for it.)
on arrival from norfolk, there was no one at reception, we had to call a mobile number. Then the lady didn't know about us being booked. we then got a call back from her telling us we were in cabin 10, when on our paperwork from the internet booking we were supposed to of been in cabin 4. When we entered, all looked ok, until we started using things.
The shower was taped up with a brightly coloured engineering tape as the bracket had broke.
There was no battery in the smoke alarm.
The taps didn't work properly, even after making a call to tell them they didn't work and was told how to use them. They leaked.
The overhead oven air extractor was full of grease where it hadn't been cleaned properly.
The electric fire when we switched it on made a loud clicking noise, which wasn't very relaxing to hear and felt unsafe using it.
The TV remote had exposed leaking batteries.
The kitchen blinds didn't open/close properly.
There were dead flies and spiders all over the insides of most of the windows.
The outdoor table had slats missing from it, so you couldn't put anything on it.
The wood around the chalet was rotten,
Bits of wood missing off the chalet.
Light in the lounge was blown.
only one in three lights working in the bathroom.
lovely surroundings my husband says fishing very good, lovely walks
This was a lovely quiet park, the lodges were clean and comfortable and the fishing was good although a little crowded at times.
A perfect base for adults to explore the surrounding areas. Will definitely go again next year.
I only gave 5 out of 10 for staff because we did not really see any, I think we stayed out of season. When I did approach staff when we arrived the lady dealt with my request promptly.
Our stay at Beechwood Park was perfectly comfortable. It is a very peaceful site, very handy for Derby and Nottingham. There is an excellent range of fishing lakes on site. Perfect for exploring the local area. For a visit into Nottingham I would highly reccomend the park and ride tram facility, which is a short drive up the M1.
We have stayed at Beechwood several times and always had great lodges. Having six lakes on site is excellent for fishing or just strolling around.Very good value for money. The site always looks clean and more beautiful each time we visit
Will be returning very soon
Have stayed at beechwood before so were already aware of the failings at the park. Only family circumstances and the fishing drove us to stay at the park again. The lodge was fine but needed a good clean. Window frames were filthy with many cobwebs and the living room carpet was badly stained. We also had a problem with a terrible stench in the main bathroom which permeated the whole lodge. The park staff could only offer us a bottle of bleach to sort the problem. If we had been scheduled to stay for any longer we would have left in disgust. The electricity payment system is also very suspect. You are told that the electricity has been put on for you and that you owe the management £10. When we actually got to the lodge there was £8.30 on the meter. As this amount didn't last the full 5 days we were there so we had to pay a further £10 of which we used barely half by the time we left. I feel as though we were ripped off.
