When I booked I was not informed that the pool was closed. We where offered free electricity which ran out approximately 03.00 Monday morning so could not shower or get a cup of tea as we left at 07.00
Absolutely beautiful setting, staff are lovely and helpful, only marked down on facilities as the pool was out of order however we were compensated for this, all in all a lovely place to get away from it all and would definitely stay again and recommend to anybody
This is the second time we have been here for Christmas.Although its under new management it was still as good as the first time.We just hope that with all the changes about to take place they don't price it out of our market.
The pool water was ice cold could not use it with my child that was part of the reason we has chosen that site. The bedroom windows screw shut could not open for any air.
Fabulous view from the lodge
We had an excellent weekend, the lodges were fantastic could not fault anything at all and can recommend it.
As Lodge was a special offer; it was good value for money. Lodge was lovely and warm and the staff were really helpful. Eating in the Bistro was good value for money. A little disappointed that due to no electricity on our second day due to area maintenance ; we had to arrange to be out for the day as power was off from 8.30 - 5.30 approx. This situation was out of Brockwood Hall's control I know , but no free coffees or similar offered which would of been a nice gesture for visitors.
The lodges were in a lovely setting and it was a great base to visit different parts of the lakes. With having a young baby, we found it great that you could get the restaurant food to take away to your lodge!
Good area to get away from it all. Complex well-kept and staff were extremely helpful. Thought the menu offered was of a good range, but food of a poor 'pub' quality.
The location is a bit too out of the way for my family.
Great holiday and only thing missing for us was not having anywhere close to buy wine/fruit/nibbles. Girls loved the indoor pool but changing and shower facilities in need of revamp.
Beautiful quiet location, lodges very clean and spacious. Main house handy for a meal and drink, curry night tasty!! Breakfast not as good, had to wait approx. 30 minutes after ordering (no one else eating breakfast!) then beans stone cold!!
But saying that it was a gorgeous spot in the woods and would definitely go back. Be nice to have option of beauty treatments available next time!!
Expensive for quality of lodge as interior smelt and furnishings shabby and dated. Also very dark inside.
Our lodge was very dark, small windows and at the wrong height, too high or too low.
It is advertised as ideal for touring the Lake District but on the extreme west of the area and the roads are far from the best it is a bit of a chore to get to the lakes.
A bit of a journey to get to some of the Lakes' attractions, and a serious trip to attractions in the north, but otherwise excellent for a relaxing holiday.
Sat nav directions are poor, though - be wary of trusting one to find your way here.
Other reviewers have noted their disquiet about this company's electricity policy: it's better than it was as the standing charge element has been absorbed, but having spent the week previous on a (cheaper) site where the total cost of the utilities was absorbed into the cost of the holiday, I'm surprised and a little cross that this company cannot do the same. Adding £25 to the cost of the holiday at the time of booking would not have put me off, and a more relaxing time without constantly checking the electricity meter would have been possible.
