we have used this cottage for 19 years except for a couple of times when it wasn't available, it is just like home from home to us.

Everything great. But would love a good wifi and it would be perfect.
The cottage was absolutely fine for a quiet few days break. Comfortable furniture, nice bedding, adequate crockery and cooking equipment.

Fire didn't work. Hot in the cottage at night despite windows being opened. Old furnishings, dirty rug which needs throwing away. No oven.
A fabulous little cottage ideally placed. Felt very homely and we didn't want to leave. Bring your bikes and ride the mile and a half in Whitby, or Scarborough if you want a longer ride along the old viaduct cycle path. We really enjoyed our holiday and will visit again.
We have always booked an Endeavour cottage and have always found them to be comfortable and well equipped with all the essentials for a lovely holiday. That there is a parking space for each cottage helps as you can be sure that you're vehicle is not too far away from where you are staying.

The shower screen was not cleaned very well it had black mould around it as did some of the tiles in the same area. This put me off using the shower
Lovely cottage situated by the river. Very clean & warm. Allocated parking by the cottage. Would definitely book the cottage again

Helpfulness of staff
I have just returned from staying in an Endeavour Cottage at Captain Cook's Haven, and found the cottage to be very clean, extremely warm and cosy, and I would not hesitate in recommending these cottages just outside beautiful Whitby.

Great time .will stay again .
we have been going to captain cook's haven for 19 years now and nearly always managed to get the same cottage, we used to go 3 times a year but cut it down to two times a year as we got older. we will continue to go as long as our health allows.
Very good all round! Already booked again.
The location is ideal, on the banks of the river Esk, and a short distance from the coast at Whitby. The area is quiet with good views over the countryside. The disused railway line makes a lovely walking area, whether you want to walk 20 miles or 2 miles. It is not for people who want evening entertainment or organised activities. The cottage we stayed in was comfortable and very warm and very peaceful.y
Fantastic little break, just what we need the cottage was beautiful would definitely recommend.
Our second visit this year was as fab as the first. Lovely cottage fantastic location. Already booked for next year. Amazing place x
always enjoy the whitby area and find larpool very central and the accomadation suits
us to a tee giving us freedom and homely evenings in.
This was a last minute booking and was good value for what we paid. We have stayed here once before and knew the site quite well. It is well maintained and a nice location on the river but not really within walking distance of Whitby centre which is approximately one and a half miles away. Staff on site were friendly and helpful and the pool is an added bonus. The cottage was warm and comfortable and was well equipped. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend and return to Captain Cook's Haven.
Great stay, very comfortable accommodation, enjoyed my daily swim then walk into Whitby. All was as advertised.

The site is lovely! Very clean tidy and more than friendly staff always on hand x The pint of milk in the fridge on arrival was well received and much appreciated.
brilliant lovely place to stay
Loved our stay here, cottage lovely, clean and well equipped, all the staff very friendly and helpful, 4 of us, 2 couples had Adventure Cottage and had plenty of privacy and space, we overlooked the play area and back of the pool. We didn't use the pool but it looked very well kept, as were the rest of the grounds, there was also a gas barbecue available if required.
Very quiet and peaceful grounds and as we were there for Goth weekend quite a contrast from the bustle of Whitby.
About a 20 minute walk into Whitby or £6 in a taxi, the Cinder Track into Whitby was fine for us as we had unusually sunny weather for October but wouldn't like to walk that way in rain or snow and it does have steep steps at end of track. We preferred to walk Larpool Lane way but you need to take care when first leaving as there is no path for part of the way but not a very busy road.
Definitely recommend Captain Cooks Haven and have already booked 3 cottages for same time next year bringing more family and friends!
Fab, would stay again
excellent location and value for money, staying there felt like I was back home after a year away.
