Lovely place much more than we expected and everything the write up says it would be ,
The lodge was beautiful and we felt very much at home.
Had a lovely relaxing weekend and used the hot tub many times.
We walked to the local pub, The George and Dragon, for Sunday lunch, lovely.
We will of course recommend these lodges and hope to be back soon.
Lovely sized lodge for family of 4 in beautiful surroundings
Quiet and relaxing but road going to the lodges was a nightmare, best way if getting down it is in a 4x4 anything else would get ruined. Rowdy families in, informed owner and he did nothing and no reply
my partner and I had an excellent stay at these lodges. Beautiful lodge, very clean and well equipped. Hot tub was great to get into after a long walk. Location was lovely and please don't worry about access road as although slightly bumpy, there really was no problem. Would recommend Buxton, Bakewell and Castleton for good days out and the Blue John Caves are fabulous. Would definitely return to these lodges in the future.
Lovely place to completely unwind and relax only criticism the lodge we had looked at little dated and just need a little tlc
Can't say we used any facility at the Charlesworth Lodges as the cottage is actually separate from them, we didn't see any staff as the cottage was already open, although it would appear that the daily maintenance was completed on the hot tub.
The location was perfect overlooking the hills. Couldn't fault the welcome and introduction to our lodge.
I read a previous review regarding lodge cleanliness so was not happy to find our bathroom had an empty soap packet on the bathroom floor from previous occupants and someone's hair grip at the side of the shower. When we got into bed on the first night there was a used comb sitting at the side of the mattress on the slats. When the bed was made this would have been obvious.
Overall the lodge was fairly well equipped although a tumble drier would be useful on the washing machine.
One thing that would be very helpful would be hooks on the wall at the side of the hot tub for the towels. Also we felt a little exposed as our lodge was in the centre of the park meaning we had to walk along the front to get to the tub in our towels.
A beautiful lodge in a wonderful location. We went here for our honeymoon and would definitely visit again.
This is the third time we had visited. Lovely lodge, lovely surroundings and the hot tub was just what we needed. Cant wait to come back.
The place is lovely and all staff dealt with were great. However, I have given the lower rating because it did not suit us. We like to eay out for one of the meals each day and do whatever we choose for the others. The only thing that wasn't for us was that the only way on to the site is via a gravelled single track lane which has a gradient and one side has a drop to it. This lane also has blind corners and twist rehularly which make it a lirrle worrying to drive up and down. If you meet anything coming the opposite way you have to reverse and there is only one passing place on this lane. The place itself is clean and well maintained and if the lane wasn't there I would have said it was perfect.
The lodge was probably the best one we have stayed in for the actual accommodation. Great layout and well equipped.
The approach lane is a little interesting if anything comes the other way, but as the owners have a Range Rover, there is enough room for any size of car. Let's be honest, it's not going to be very remote and tranquil, if there is a full blown road running through the gates.
There is a lot to do in the surrounding areas. The lodge has a folder giving suggestions of places to go, or eat which is quite useful. However, giving the post codes of the restaurants would be good. I don't think it would take long to update the files, but it would be an enormous help.
Overall, it's a lovely little park, the Amour lodge is excellent and I look forward to stopping there again.
Beautiful location and accommodation, hot tub was fantastic, at the right temperature all day everyday. Great for exploring Manchester and the Peaks. Had concerns when we booked regarding some reviews on the driveway to the properties, but it looks to me as if the lane has been resurfaced and was not a problem at all, Staff very helpful and friendly, would not hesitate in booking again.
Excellent weekend break. Snow on the hills made in very scenic.
Our holiday was absolutely beautiful, the area was lovely and when we arrived the snow was quite deep and we couldn't get our car outside the lodge but the lovely staff drove us up in the 4x4 which was great. Had seen other moaning about the road down to the lodges, there is nothing wrong with the access road at all.
