An absolutely beautiful location and laid out lovely, parking brilliant, the grounds are immaculate and not a spot of rubbish anywhere. The staff are top notch both in reception and the bar/food area. The down side of our stay was the accommodation, on entering the lodge the floor was dirty and we found screws on the floor, from where we have no idea ! It was fantastically equipped, hot tub, washer/dryer, dishwasher, television in every room, two toilets, shower and centrally heated, an abundance of towels and bathrobes, did I mention the hot tub ? After we had vacuumed and checked for further sharp objects left scattered on the floor we settled in, we went to eat in the bar area which was pricey but nice none the less, expensive pub food really. We went back to the accommodation to try our very first hot tub experience, although a little chilly (Easter holidays), the hot tub was fantastic ! The kids loved it as did my wife and myself, we stayed in it for a few hours bubbling and steaming away ! The instructions were easy to understand even for us, it even had a array of ambient lighting that could change colour, flash or be static on what ever colour you so desired. Then came bedtime, the kids were knackered as were we, then came the banging (no not that !), from the boiler, it either had an air lock or had trouble lighting, bang , bang, bang, then silence, then bang, bang, bang. In the end we got use to it I suppose although very annoying. We had trouble lighting the gas cooker as the main burner would not light and if it did was like a flame thrower, just used the smaller burners instead, the shower was lovely until the rail holding the shower head decided to give up hanging and launch itself at me when in use, I did manage to secure it back in its brackets to ensure it would not commit harry carry again. I bet you are thinking to yourself why not complain, well, it was our holiday which we had saved up for over 18 months and as not to spoil it for the kids or ourselves we decided just to enjoy ourselves and not spend half our time being upset or getting shirty about it. If it was not for the hot tub, the setting or the view I think it would of ruined our holiday for sure, but we just smiled and laughed and it is a story to tell of our adventure at Cheddar Woods. P.s. It is not a wooden lodge as expected from pictures but a caravan with wood effect cladding disguised as a wooded lodge, but the hot tub was spot on !

We received a high discount so it was very good value for money, however I would not have been so high scoring if we paid full price. We did also have a few issues with the hot tub and we reported this to reception to explained an engineer would come that evening, this did not happen. On two occasions a gentleman came to test the water in the hot tub (not the issue we reported) and he did not make himself known and just walked up the outside of the caravan with all the doors open and it made me feel nervous.

We had a problem with the central heating as the radiators weren't getting hot and it was a cold weekend. Three people came out to sort it but still we had a problem so the lodge was quite cold over the weekend. Take loo roll, we had a bathroom and separate toilet and only one toilet roll was provided so we went to purchase some more from the shop and they didn't sell them!! Just a shame that the essential items get forgotten yet a welcome travel tin with products in and fluffy robes are provided.

Beautifully presented ,providing everything you could need , disappointed with the very small welcome pack ,had to buy our own extra cleaning items so advise others to take supplies. The bedrooms were tiny and more in keeping with a caravan ,if the children had arrived it would of been more difficult . It was lovely and warm day and night. The hot tub was an excellent experience ,always lovely and hot and privately screened .

We stayed in a Mendip 3 Premier for our first stay at Cheddar Woods. It was immaculately clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen. For us the single beds were the usual narrow ones in typical static caravans so our younger kids rolled out a few times (young but too old for bed guards) and hallway was very cramped, we often bumped into each other or bumped into doors! It's what you expect from statics but it made us decide to upgrade to an Axbridge Premier lodge for our 2nd stay which was much more spacious. We also found the sofa & armchairs a bit uncomfortable in the Mendip - very hard and only enough seating for 4 people despite it being a lodge for 6. Lots of glass furniture everywhere (coffee & dining table) made me a bit nervous with an active toddler, again one of the motivations to upgrade. However, despite seeming a little negative, I'm just being picky now. Out of season the Mendip lodges are a really cheap way to have a luxury break - much better quality than you'd find for a similar price at many places. And of course the hot tub was awesome :)

We had a great time here, we were a group of 12 (6 kids, & 6 adults). We had two lodges, which we requested to be near each other, which they were. The staff are friendly and helpful, our lodges were well equipted and very clean. I'm looking forward to our mini break again.

We will definitely return. There was a washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, lots of kitchen equipment, tv and DVD player. The main room and bedrooms were really comfortable and warm.
