Lovely location, very peaceful. The pool was lovely. The staff were very helpful but not always available.
Wonderful location, however lodge for 5 people only had sofas for 4 and dining table realistically sat 4!
I booked the lodge because it was close to exmoor and our reason for visiting from Yorkshire, was to explore the area. However we spent a lot more of our time at the lodge, using the leisure facilities and hot tub and had some quality family time. We loved fresh eggs from the farmhouse for breakfast... my son loved the alpacas and we all enjoyed the local walks. A lovely relaxing experience with no disturbance from neighbouring lodges. Although..A new cooker would be a good idea!
Beautiful location if you like peace and quiet. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the car if you fancy days/evenings out. Facilities all cost extra which seems excessive given the amount we paid in the first place. You can pay to hire the pool privately which is a lovely idea but it perhaps would be a better idea to have shared use in the holiday costing and pay extra if you wish to use it privately. Staff did a very brief check in which basically included a quick run through of hot tub care. Signs say the owners can be contacted in an emergency, leaving you feeling awkward if you have a question that isn't an emergency.
Fantastic location beautiful scenery, lodge was well presented and catered well for our family of five. A big down was that we had to pay for electric on a coin meter so we were forever trying to find pound coins.
Really lovely. Owners really helpful and accommodating. Beautiful part of the world and lodge was lovely. Only gripe is paying for the electric as we hardly used any devices but kept feeding the meter. Would hate to think how much electric we'd have to pay for outside of summer.
Great place to escape to. Beautiful views fantastic people. Would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
We had an excellent holiday, pity we couldn't get the accommodation for longer. We chose the larger lodge so that the family, who live far apart could share a home together with their children for a short while.
It was spotless. The site manager extremely helpful. Think we bought all his fresh eggs. Possibly few more bowls needed in kitchen plus couple more bigger saucepans as we were catering largely for ourselves and like to cook.
We had a fab week at Exmoor Gate Lodges in a lovely well-maintained lodge with hot tub. The option to privately hire the swimming pool, sauna and steam room were a great addition and the lodge made a great base from which to explore the surrounding area. The owners were lovely, friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We hope to return another time in the not too distant future!
We had a lovely holiday at Exmoor Gate, we did not realise from the photographs how small it is (7/8 lodges) and our only dissapointment was how far it seemed from places to take the children, especially as the weather was a bit indifferent.
We would book again.
Stunning all round, accommodation was lovely and clean, hot tub was a huge hit with the kids, great location for a chilled out break. 40 mins drive to minehead and 5 mins drive to local shops and pubs. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic stay for a relaxing break! Beautiful accomadation, great recommendations of places to visit from the owners. It really is the place to get away from it all!!!
Lovely lodge with friendly helpful staff. The electricity meter is a pain, especially when we saved £1 coins only to find out it takes a £2 coin. We spent most of our time trying to get hold of these coins. Would recommend the local pub just down the road (sorry forgot the name) where we had a fab meal & the hospitality was great. Most places will accept dogs.
Friendly and helpful staff at a beautiful country location
