Some of the park area is in need of upgrading or a lick of paint. It did look like some work was underway which is good as it has great potential. More information available on notice boards about what is on offer actually in the park would be useful and could possibly increase the uptake by those staying at the park. Table tennis room was more of a damp smelling dumping ground than any kind of attraction which is off-puting.
Beautiful location and Good Bar food.
Lodges were terrible and in desperate need of some TLC
Broken Patio door which had to be left open all night as there was no way to contact reception which is unmanned most of the time.
Wont be back any time soon !
Had such a good time that as soon we got home, we immediately booked again for next year. The park overall was good but with a bit of tlc it could be great.
The water sports and archery were fantastic. My daughters also loved the "zorb" football.
The lodge that we stayed in was good enough. However a clothes airer would have been appreciated as there was nowhere to dry towels etc.
Loved the views from the lochside cabin. Waking up to that every morning was lovely and you could sit out peacefully til late. The location was ideal with Fort William and Ben Nevis one way and Fort Augustus and Loch Ness the other
Apart from the restaurant staff their was either no one else around or failed to provide any information regarding the onsite activities (told it was a separate company, was posed the directions and nothing further!)
The lodgings I could not fault but the actual reception area was tired, dull, uninviting and failed to really help the new arrivals. It would have been helpful if the arrival book in the lodge is placed in front of the naked eye and not left in a draw - only found it 1 day before departure!
The sporting facilities I found extremely drab, the table tennis room was appalling, old chairs turned upside down, filthy and unviting, it would only take a lick of paint, a Hoover and a few photos to make it more appealing.
I truly believe Water Glen is missing a trick, boost your reception area and give the staff training on customer service to sell the facilities and make it more welcoming and please don't advise sporting events when you don't offer them i.e. Fencing plus others.
In summary the accommodation and grounds are well maintained, everything else is tired and does not stand up to what is advertised.
The key people who stand out - Alan, the lovely chap who took us out on the canoe and the lady who served us for dinner in the restaurant.
Had peaceful break, but would have been a little better if there were occasional free or cheap things on site for kids to do. Had a teenager with us who was a bit bored.
There were water activities on site but they were very expensive for anyone on a budget.
The place was great with stunning views of the loch oich. The lodges were comfortable, kitchen is well equipped . Loch side lodges got the best views. Nice holiday for dog owners. Well be happy to go back again.
Overall good holiday, park slightly dated, accommodation reasonable, charging electricity separate is off putting, location pretty stunning when the sun is shining!
Was a good location, and base for a week away, water sports are a bit expensive though ,but it has to be expected as location is on one of Scotland's main tourist routes.
Facilities at the site are getting a bit dated and could do with an upgrade, meals are basic, but tasty and fresh enough.
i had a great holiday, first time i took my dog and booked a lodge...it was a wee bit more remote than we thought but it made the journeys to other areas slightly shorter and turned out to be a good middle point between fort william loch ness, skye etc and we travelled around each day. Lodge park was quiet and that appealed to us. There were a number of places around we could take the dog to eat out with us. The lodge itself was roomy and had almost everything we needed. I would say it was a bit tired and needed a wee revamp...the laminate flooring was past its best and it cudve been cleaned better, when i moved couch it wasnt so clean underneath but all in all it was a really nice holiday and the view i had from lodge was stunning and peaceful.
It was great- beautiful place and great quality.
WE FOUND THE HOLIDAY PARK VERY TIERD AND MUCH IN NEED OF SOME REFURBISHING IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE SET UP.
Definitely a beautiful location with the loch just feet from my verandah.Mountains, birds, wildlife, all on the doorstep just looking out of the windows.
The lodge itself was very spacious with 3 bedrooms all with full size beds.Really comfy ones too. There are heaters in all rooms which you definitely need if you go early or late season.
Plenty of room for 6 people in the lounge diner.Watch the electric used though as it is charged at the end.
One bedroom heated from 8-10pm for 4 nights, the emersion heater on....was £4.50.
Central for Nevis Range, Fort Augustus Caledonian Canal lock staircase,Nessieland,Cairngorm mountains.
Well maintained park but staff not always available when you need them and few and far between.
Great for the dog except she had to be on lead all the time which was a great shame.
Had a great week will definitely be going back a lot more to explore.
Terrible cabin smelt like damp dog, hoover stunk of sick and we had to use a bucket to flush the toilet. Utterly disgraceful accommodation. Staff refused to change/ help then tried to charge me £30 electricity on leaving for a final kick in the teeth.
