We had a great time at the Great Glen Water Park, stunning location with lodge right on the loch. Lots to do at the park and in the area. Lodge was very comfortable and spacious. Well run and maintained, staff very helpful and friendly. Great for cycling and walking along the fantastic track that runs behind the lodges, I think goes all the way from Fort William to Inverness along the Caledonian Canal. Found lots of places with great food.
Interior dated. Mould on the grouting in the shower. Had a damp feel generally and poorly resources for catering ; two small saucepans, small oven dishes difficult for family of five.
The site is in lovely location but needs help. Pool was murky with hole in surrounding floor. Play equipment for kids was poor. Reception and restaurant building felt and looked very sad. No shop or any provisions. Not a great deal for kids to do NB waterlogged grassed areas.
Owners should be investing, not just leaving poor staff to muddle by.
Great Glen water park is very beautiful place to stay ,however the lodges need to be updated big time . To hire a canoe for a family of five was very expensive as we had to take out two. The swimming pool was very poor and if you wanted to use the sauna it was extra . We don't use the games room much ,but the one time we did none of the machines were working and the pool table was terrible. As the Highlands are very wet we had the heating on trying to keep the place warm ,but to have a separate heating bill at the end of your holiday keeps you on your toes as to how much power you are using. On the up side you have a beautiful lock outside your door to jump into which was great fun and also some lovely walks which are breath taking. I think for what we were charged for a two week holiday they should be able to invest some money back into the park.
Although the chalet was a bit dated the surroundings and the view cannot be beaten really central to explore the highlands and the spectacular scenary I wouldn't hesitate to rebook
The cabins smelled musty every time we came in. The patio door was very hard to open! Wouldn't be able to get out if had a fire!!! The patio window hadn't been cleaned from flys and mould. The water was yellow/ green colour but wasn't informed in pack? Also I took my pet with me put they put me in a cabin with carpet not laminated floor? The swimming pool wasn't that good and their wasn't much to do on the mites for little kids/ older. Poor wifi. Cabins need to be updated for the price of the holiday.
The park is in a stunning setting bit in need of some upgrading
nice place limited facilities food was nice in the restaurant but a little pricey for what it was but the staff were friendly and helpful. All in all great place to enjoy the outdoors.
We've been coming to the Great Glen for the last 16 years - which speaks for itself! Our lads are now in their 20's but still hugely enjoy the kayaking, mountain biking and off-road fun, as do their girlfriends! We came initially for my white water rafting dream (awesome!) but now it's more the heart-stopping beauty of the scenery - truly 'soul country'. There is simply no place like this on earth, and we always have the warmest of welcomes from our Scots friends. See you next year!
Lodge needs a bit of attention. We completed a questionaire there re problems. We were told by reception staff before we arrived that all activities were away from the site but found that canoeing and booking were carried out on site.
Had a lovely stay. Not sure if the people before had left stuff, or if it was provided, but it was nice to have things like washing up liquid, tea towels etc left for us. Overall, the park was in a good location for where we wanted to visit.
Beautiful setting. Activities not cheap and no discount for large group.
The location and lodge its self were beautiful but there wasnt anything for the kids accept a swimming pool that only 12 were aloud in at the same time and for 45mins at a time there was a sauna which u had to pay 6 pound for i thought that would of bn included in the price of holiday the restraunt food wasnt very nice and a bit overpriced the pub was only open untill 11 at night and is very old looking needs alot of updating i booked the loch veiw premier lodge it was lovely and very well equipt i had booked for 7 nights but left after 4 as i said there wasnt much to do for my kids in my opinon the great glen park should maybe look into having a few things at night time for the kids would of made me stay me whole 7 nights if there was
Did not use the park much as cottage was on the edge off park . But did go for a drink was at this park 10years ago and nothing has changed in the bar area .in need off uplift .
Some of the park area is in need of upgrading or a lick of paint. It did look like some work was underway which is good as it has great potential. More information available on notice boards about what is on offer actually in the park would be useful and could possibly increase the uptake by those staying at the park. Table tennis room was more of a damp smelling dumping ground than any kind of attraction which is off-puting.
