Lovely bungalow lots of room and safe for the children.
We enjoyed the holiday on the Isle of Wight but felt that the holiday parc was in need of much tlc. It was good to see a small store was being erected which would be a great asset!
The park had two pools, tennis courts, a gym and play area for the kids, and a cafe/ restaurant, which is generally good. However, the park in general was not well maintained and looked very tired. There was no "life" in the place. It is not well staffed and reception for the accommodation says "I can't help you" to everything, "ask the leisure complex". Not helpful. We complained about the state of the accommodation, mainly the outside being covered in giant ( no exaggeration ) cobwebs. We couldn't let the children out onto the veranda. To the credit of lovely Laura who dealt with our complaint, someone was over straight away. But one wonders why accommodation for paying guests is let in that state!
The staff at the leisure facility were helpful and nice. However, it seems to be a world of two halves. We used the pool once and the courts and play place twice. We decided to spend most of the trip off-site.
Stayed for 4 days and was very happy with our accomadation. Had read a few reviews and was concerned, but didn't need to be. Villa clean and well above expectations. We had 3 bedrooms and every one was spacious and comfortable, the shop area is still undergoing renovation so there is nowhere on site to buy groceries but shops in nearby Cowes. Overall a nice break and would return again
Would be nice to have a starter pack at the sink consisting of 1 dish cloth, few dishwasher tablets and 1 scourer.
lodgevery cleanbut couldwith update
We used Gurnard Pines as a base from which to explore the Isle of Wight. The accomodation was excellent..very clean , spacious and everything you needed for a weeks break away.
No equipment hire (for tennis or any other outdoor sports in general) along with a lack of staff, empty function rooms and no real reception desk gave the feeling of a location in need of owner investment.
the location was ideal close to cowes but the main site was aged and in need of some work not what we were expecting after looking at the sites website . The cabin was in need of cleaning and the damp and rotting wood cabin with its local ants inviting themselves in every day was not great with all this we just planed to stay of the site for as long as posable , disappointment as our last holiday was so great .
We have stayed at a few places in Isle of wight and i think we have now found the one we will use going forwards.
Excellent facilities (swimming, tennis, kids play area)
Nice clean cabins with views of the countryside
Good location, central to everything
Excellent value for money
Would definitely stay here again. We stayed in a 3 bedroomed villa and it was great. Very spacious and clean, much bigger than I'd expected. The swimming pool was a hit with my boys and the staff at the gym were lovely.
The site is looking very shabby and there were lots of maintenance issues with out bungalow. The children's play area has been closed for several years now and use of the gym is no longer included. We won't be staying here again.
Very quiet place. Nothing to do for kids. Gurnard pines very disappointed. The only thing I can say that was nice was the accommodation with the hot tub. Glad I didn't book one without the hot tub, they looked awful.
We had a fantastic stay. All the staff we met were helpful and friendly. The acomodation was ideal for the price we paid. The swimingpool and othet facilities were all good to. Excellent location an easy drive from all the major attractions.
The lodges themselves are quite tatty but clean. We had a hole in the front door at the bottom where wood had rotted away. Staff not particularly interested. Thankfully was warm weather. Central heating worked well in the bedrooms. The site and surroundings was great with the lodges all situated round a field where kids could play safely and the facilities on site part of the ' cowes club' which is used by locals. Hence, gym, swimming pool, soft play and restaurant all good quality. Despite the tatty lodge would definitely stay again ( just not in winter) as excellent location and good facilities
